Gap year?

I had a particularly disappointing first semester of undergrad at a top 25 university (2.7 GPA) followed by a 3.5 and then transferred to a top LAC where I have maintained a 3.7. I'm currently a junior. How beneficial, if at all, would it be to take a year between graduation to apply to law schools?

Don't do it because of law school. But it might be a good-to-great learning experience if you do things well. My question to you, though: Why not apply as a senior and then defer?

My thinking is that it would allow the schools to see all of my grades. And why not do it for law school? If my goal is go to school A or school B why not do what would put me in the best possible position to achieve that goal if taking a year between could do that?
