I heard that Harvard has a campus wide garage sale once a year. does anyone know when it is?

yeah, i think people get their couches and stuff from there. If i recall correctly (I read about it somewhere) it is after freshman week. :)

I happens every year at about the same time as Move-in Day. They turn the quad in part of the Yard and the area between the Yard and the Science Center into a huge flea market. Lots of used furniture, small appliances, stuff for your room, etc.

Our DD is a freshman at BU next year, and I was thinking about sending her across the river for your sale, as BU doesn’t have one. Her FYSOP service week begins August 29th - how does that compare to Harvard? What a great idea -

tricky in that case. moving a couch or a fridge or a nice desk from the science center yard to any freshman dorm (which on average is like 100 yards or so) and into a room is a horrible experience that ive had too many times. going to BU with a couch would be killer

It seems that Harvard freshman move-in is August 25th. I think that your daughter will be too late for the yard sale because BU move-in is later than that. If she’s living in an apartment, however, then she might have a chance. However, as an earlier poster wrote, moving things around Harvard Sqaure and Kenmore Square at that time of year is a bit of a nightmare.

It is the “Stuff” sale, benefitting Harvard Habitat for Humanity. Some info here–
