Garbage GPA- where should I be looking?

First of all thanks for even reading. So I'll be a senior this fall, and I'd like you to help me figure out what constitutes a reach, match, and safety for me. Also, I posted once before but messed up my GPA.

Pakistani Male at a prestigious midwestern private school that doesn't do class rank. Top 10% gets cum laude though (I didn't).

UW GPA: 3.62 with a clear positive trend

Freshman: 3.25
Sophomore: 3.67
Junior: 3.94

ACT: 34 (36R, 34W, 34S, 31M)

APs
US History: 5
Chem: 5
Calc AB: 5
Physics C (both): 5
English Lit: 5
English Lang: 5
Spanish Lang: 4

If there has been an honors version of a class offered, I've taken it. At my school you can't take APs until Junior and Senior year, so those were all in Jr Year. Overall, I've taken the most rigorous courses I could have.

Senior courseload:

AP Bio
Post-AP Spanish Lit

Two summer internships at the leading non profit hospital in Pakistan, one summer internship at the leading non profit mental health hospital in Pakistan. My essays are going to be 9/10 and up probably.

Planning to major in literature and then go to med school.

Here's my guess,

High reach: Ivies, U Chicago, Stanford etc

Reach: Northwestern, Johns Hopkins, Tufts etc

Match: BC, BU, Brandeis, GWU

Safety: U of M, UW Madison

Accurate? If not please help!! Thanks!

Just my guess, but you seem to be in the category of kids who will be lucky to get into a reach. Forego the high reaches, and apply early to one of your reaches, where you are more likely to be admitted.

Anything is possible, of course. Good luck!

BC, BU, Brandeis and GWU are kind of high match/low reach.

@lotusg‌ Really? I looked at Naviance, and the average GPA of accepted kids from my school is 3.4-3.55, and average ACT is 31.

@lotusg‌ No, BU is not at all a reach of any kind for him. I would say its a low match. Don’t give up on your high reaches. UChicago places heavy emphasis on essays and are holistic, looking at the whole apckage you have to offer. U of M as in UMichigan? That is not at all a safety. Look at last years stats for accepted students. I’d say it’s a mid-high match.

Good luck dude, I think you stand a good chance if you put your best effort.

Btw, good upward trend and ACT scores, and your GPA is NOT garbage. Don’t be so neurotic and complain about it, be confident and persistent. Anything can happen if you put your mind to it.

@driftadriva‌ Thanks for the input. U of M as in University of Minnesota, not Michigan.

aaah got it, that should be a low match/safety for you.

Thanks for the information. Good luck

I honestly don’t think that your GPA is bad at all, Especially because you did so well on your ACT

@Hummergal‌ Haha. Yeah, the title is a bit melodramatic.

It’s bad in the sense that I don’t believe it reflects my full potential, but rather a lack of effort in my first two years.

CHANCE ME & I’LL CHANCE YOU BACK!

No chances at high reaches, no chance at reaches except for Tufts, apply everywhere else you listed. Just keeping it “one-hunnet”.
