Garcia Summer program

I'm applying for the Garcia summer program, do you have any tips or advice for it? And I'm having a hard time coming up with great answers to their questions, any suggestions?

-Please explain your reasons for wanting to participate in the Garcia Center Summer Scholar Program.

-List all previous research experience, including research-oriented courses you may have or are currently taking.

-If you had the opportunity to do research in any area of engineering, what would you do?

Question - on (IV Research Information ) it says “attach additional pages as needed”
I’m assuming that this means we aren’t limited to the space that they give us on that sheet but is there any suggested work lengths?

Bump

Not really sure

Anyone else get an email from garcia? got rejected :frowning:

I was accepted  I may not attend though; I have a paid internship at NIH.

Also accepted :), and I’m considering going. Seems like not much talk about Garcia on college confidential. Anyone else who applied? Any alumni here?

Accepted here :)

Could anyone who got in post their stats?

Also accepted! Is there a facebook group or something for this?

Accepted! Most likely going since I got rejected from SIMR and Simon’s ):

Does anyone know what the approximate acceptance rate is for this program?

Pretty sure about 30-40 get accepted, not sure how many apply

can anyone post their stats and essay, it’d really help, thanks.

I had 36 ACT 800 on Math II and Chemsitry and 3.98 uw gpa w/ 11 APs

wow, thats a lot to handle.

"and in the Garcia Center for Polymers at Engineered Interfaces program, 35 of the 59 students are from Long Island, university officials said. "

Also, if you look at their past abstract pamphlets, the cover page photo of the whole group has around that many.

How does Garcia’s Youth Scholars program work? Do you take additional courses for credit or do you receive credit from the research you complete?

I believe the research counts towards credit

Does anyone know if high school participants will be able to use the campus’ facilities? I.e. track and field, pool, etc?
