Everyone: People! Don’t give up now. And certainly don’t rely on the extended deadline. You guys came of a long way… Don’t let the servers put you dowm. If you see there is no absolute way to submit online, postmark it and send it by post office mail TODAY.

The Website says: In order to be eligible to be considered for the GMS scholarship, all three forms must be submitted online by Monday, January 10, 2011 11:59 p.m. EST or postmarked on or before Monday, January 10, 2011.

I’m routing for all for you. We are gonna get this. I’ve had lots of problems too…but it’s all good. We can do this. Whatever you do, dont give up. I mean, How can you possibly give up on ALL the money u’d actually need?

Good luck everyone!! Plus, anyone that asked me to read their essays in the last couple days…um, sorry, about 3 people asked me in one night and I really can’t read and edit 24 essays in the next few hours for you all, so I hope you turn your application in soon and BEST OF LUCK! :)

Is the website still crashed? If so, try not to stress too much. I mean, I know it’s really stressful but the website crashes every year and it’ll come back up, just keep checking and submitting.

(Saw a question about number of applicants a few pages back) From what I remember, at the conference in LA this year they said there was around 20,000+ applicants. It’s a lot of competition.

how is everyone doing!?! im freaking out. i still have 2 essays to write!

btw i have a couple questions.
do we need to send our transcripts once it comes out?
what if you took a year long class and got 2 different grades? (an A first semester and a B 2nd semester) would i enter it twice as a semester class with my separate grades?

so for the accomplishments I want to add Science Olympiad as one but should I list each medal separately? Because I’ve placed 4 times in different years but they require a specific date received.

Thank God I’m finished! I submited mine during my off period at school. Best of luck to everyone. This has really been a journey. Only thing left to do is sit back, pray and wait till march to see if we have made it to the final round.

Do you recommend that applicants fill out essay 8? The one about anything else you’d like to tell us? It seems like a catch-all. Is this essential or recommended?

So right now I have a crap draft of my last essay and just finished writing generic one sentence descriptions for my accomplishments and leadership…

Mentos: Fill it out, definitely! Why skip an opportunity to tell the committee more about yourself, and convince them why you deserve it? I think essay #8 really helped me to get the scholarship…and besides, I just don’t think it’s a good idea to leave anything blank on an application this important and huge.

VHT510: It’s always been around 3/8, and then scholarship notifications around 4/16 I believe (email last year was on 4/21, but mail notifications are sent out before that)

borkborkbork: Oh no…that’s really unfortunate. Can he still access his part of the application/his forms, or is it too late? Otherwise, if you can and want, you can try to call gmsp and ask them what you should do and what happens now. The UNCF office closes at midnight today, APIASF at midnight, AIGCS at 10pm, HSF closed at 9pm. This is EASTERN TIME so if you wanna call and try to get through you better hurry…good luck!

Oh yeah, confirming what I said earlier, I just reread my acceptance letter from last March and it said that in 2010 there were over 20,500 applicants.

NYSP2010 - I already submitted my application…but should I have literally wrote “This is why I deserve the scholarship”? Haha, I definitely just wrote answers answering the prompt.
