@ Collegegurl I dont remember seeing anyone being notified from the midwest. But im not sure. Keep the faith.

Thanks @TWEEZER…were u notified yet?..I love how we r all on here like a virus…when we all prob have tons of h.w.

No I live in Alaska. It usually takes awhile for us and its always by snailmail. A girl at my school got it last year and She wasnt notified until way later in the month.

@TWEEZER
oh ok…did u get the letter sent in the mail thing?

@collegegurl123 i live in mo and i was notified early tuesday morning. i saw someone else from the midwest was notified also. I think everyone should stop worrying about who all was notified around them. Its most likely random seeing how it is initially sent by email rather than postage. Everyone who applied is amazing and, if not awarded the scholarship, will still end up with a bright future. Stressing out is not going to do anything but make you angry/ upset so why do it (besides the fact that 90% of the people on cc are type a over achievers ( i am one myself))

three people in my school already notified by email, and i have not recieved nay notification? Does this mean im not a finalist? :(

@benjayminf

Thanks!!!..ur right!

I’m an African American from the Midwest and I haven’t heard anything from GMS so far either

@Collegegurl yea

I already know of 2 finalists from the Midwest (1 Hispanic and 1 African American) both from Chicago Public Schools yesterday.

Any asians from the Midwest?

Yes, criskix. My daughter (Asian + Ohio) was notified Tuesday morning via email.

Well day 3! Still trying to stay positive.

^So am I! Plus I’m trying not to think about it. It’s soooo hard!

Don’t forget to check your spam folder. Every year it seems people find an email days or weeks later in them.

true true :)

@swohiomom
D: I’m an Asian from Northwest Ohio. Hopefully, the location is irrelevant to notification or else, I’m slowly losing hope. I wish they’d just send me the rejection letter already so I don’t have to compulsively check my email all the time.

I was notified on March 8th at around 9:20 PM. I’m Hispanic (Peruvian) and from NC. I’m a finalist! I’m genuinely surprised. I guess my essays weren’t a bad as I thought.

Question: About how many finalists are there? Does anyone know the finalist to scholar percentage?

Finally got my GPA verification letter woot

@Anotherindiankid: Same here. My mom got it today while I was in school, and I’m off to fax everything tomorrow morning. Good luck to you, and everyone else.
P.S. I’m Indian (well Guyanese-Pakistani) from Miami. ^_^

@eddie12345 One of the criteria for receiving the scholarship is Pell Grant eligibility. That is why they ask for the verification forms. If you are not eligible, they cannot award you the scholarship.
