Congrats to all finalists, and I really hope you all get it!! I got my rejection email the other day but in a way I needed it. I didn’t deserve to win, and it was a very humbling experience. Good luck to you all though, and I’ll be logging in to read about the news!

Good luck to all finalists! I am a finalist as well but as weird as this may sound, I really hope I don’t get the scholarship. I have been accepted to top private schools (Ivy league) that offer me full rides and I would feel like I’m stealing money from those who ACTUALLY need it; ie, those who are attending public schools. ESPECIALLY UC’s and CSU’s.

How do they notify the actual scholars? email first then a big package? or just a big package?

i think its just a big packet

Yeah, they dot receive an email just a big package. And I think that comes out around April 15.

thanks fo the info!

approximately 12 days until we find out our fate for the next four years of our life. no big deal.

Maybe even the next eight years because gates covers graduate school.

hi guys just wanted to know if you were not chosen as a finalist if you can re-apply again as a college freshman for the following years and as well when you are a senior in college if u can apply for grad school such as med or law school…thanks in advance

Hi congrats to all the winners…just wanted to know if someone didn’t win like myself will I be able to reapply as a college freshman to get help for the following years of college and also as well as a college senior will one be able to reapply for grad school such as med or law school?? Please reply if you have info thanks in advance

Unfortunately you can only apply to the GMS program before you enter college.

This is what the FAQ says about who should apply:
You should apply for the GMS scholarship during your senior year of high school. If you have a GED or if you have never attended college before and will be entering as an incoming freshman in the fall.

Hello everyone! I have been reading these posts for months now and finally decided to join. Congrats to everyone that rec’d a finalist notification. My daughter rec’d her finalist notification around March 8th. I AM SOOOOO NERVOUS about the final selection! I really wish they would notify earlier than mid-April!

I wish they would too! I’m basing my college decision on gates so it would be nice to have some direction in my life and for once be able to tell and know where I will be going to college the next four years of my life.

i also would love to know before mid april… since im also basing my college decision off of this scholarship… with God all things are possible… I am having faith… lots of it… GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE

I am having faith to. God let me get this far. If it is meant for me to have it and if this is what HE has planned for my future I will receive it.

thats the spirit… everything will work out according to HIS plan… we just have to wait a few weeks to have the plan unravel before us

it’s great to see such strong faith here, really gives me hope everything happens for a reason; as long as we lay everything down at God’s feet, surrender to His will, and do everything for His glory, it will turn out great. With or without this scholarship, I know everyone here will be doing amazing things in the future. Good luck to all. In the meanwhile, lets try to maintain some sanity and patience!

definetly true!!!.. GOD has his grand plan… patience is important but its hard

im kinda FREAKING OUT because I waited like 2 weeks to send in the stuff and I didn’t get the letter until a couple days after everyone and the phone recording thing still says 0/5 even though I submitted my stuff last week. really really praying it shows up tomorrow or I’ve gotta call them and re-fax it. do you guys know how they evaluate the material at this step?!

My daughter is a finalist too - I have been combing through ALL these threads looking for information, hope, enthusiasm, energy. I found it all.

And, yes, there is a grand plan and a great design and we will all move forward as we should. I know that each student who has made it this far deserves the support and the prestige this scholarship offers and I wish you all the best as you move into this next great adventure.

Trying to wait patiently (not my strongest skill…OK, ok I suck at it). But, I keep wishing and praying and hoping and believing. What an amazing thing to watch my daughter make all this fantastic energy happen around her.

I couldn’t be more proud.
