I was just thinking when you are named a Gates scholar you should contact Emory and share this information with them and I guarantee you will get off that waitlist and be admitted because 1) Gates is a very prestigious scholarship and carries a lot of weight and 2) Emory won’t have to give you a ton of financial aid because they know gates will fill the gap!</p>
<p>@NervousMom that would be so AMAZING! That would probably work out so well! If that happened, wow… Maybe that could be my future. I am going to keep hoping… It’s so soon. This scholarship is prestigious and Emory only has roughly 30 on their campus and I am sure if I got it, I would stand a good chance of being admitted! Thanks so much for the kind words NervousMom! If they do come earlier I instructed my mother not to tell me if anything came in the mail.
I want to be focused in my competitions and make it to nationals, cause if I do it can mean a different scholarship.</p>
<p>I will be visiting family from april 15-24, so if I receive a package/letter, I won’t even find out until I come back on the 24!</p>
<p>Torture. I know past scholars found out by calling and receiving a scholar ID. I wonder if they’ll do that this time?</p>
<p>Ambitious - It’s worth a try to call and see if you get an ID. I’m going to try it closer to Friday. I’ll let you know what I find out - if anything! I have a feeling this week is going to fly by! :)</p>

<p>Call the GMS number that you can find on the website and press one as if you were a scholar. Then select the option for if you don’t know your scholar ID.</p>
<p>Which is better a full ride because of need based financial aid or GMS? Or can you use both?</p>

<p>I emailed Gabriel Bell at AIGCS (the organization who handles the Native American piece of the Gates Millennium) and asked him about the talk recently of email notifications.</p>
<p>He confirmed to me that notifications will go out on the 15th and that BOTH letters and emails will be sent.</p>
<p>He has been very helpful to us along the way and I take him for his word. </p>
