I am willing to take any questions. Congrats to everyone who are finalists and congrats to everyone that are scholars. And for those who are still waiting on notification, keep your head up, have faith, do not lose hope.

I may not be able to reply right away because I do not have access to internet at home, and I do not have time to get on the computer during school. But I am able to read this forum on my phone, but not reply.

Yes, the tension is ridiculously crazy! To be honest, I wasn't expecting to become a scholar. To expect it, will bring great disappointment when you don't get it, but not to expect it, won't bring as much disappointment. And when you don't expect it and get it..it's a greater feeling than expecting it and getting it.

It is easier said than done, but focus on your hour to hour regularities. When the mail comes, check it. If the packet isn't there, continue with your regularities.

I also agree with the previous posts that spoke about all finalists are most likely scholars. The only way a finalist wouldn't be a scholar is if their GPA was false or if the didn't meet the Federal Pell Grant. I am pretty sure they do not reread your essays or look at your community service and leadership opportunities. So as a finalist, if what was sent in is true, then a true scholar you will be.

ok people, this is indeed a rolling acceptance since Theres two african american twins that were finalists, and so far only one of them has received the notification that he is a scholar. Their stats are almost identical seeing as they have been raised the same way and they have always had the same classes. If one of them received it the otehr is very likely to gt it as well. we all live in oakland California, so I guess that the submission time does not matter neither does where you live. They did both submit on the same day

so wait, if they submitted their docs at the same time, shouldn't they be notified at the same time if it is rolling acceptance? what do u mean by rolling acceptance?
Still nothing!

Mr. Tang and Hahastupidme, I didn't get a notification either! Don't get your hopes up! The asian west coast finalists have yet to receive anything I assume. I too hope that it will come by this week.

hey. i am an asian on teh west coast. living in california. Los Angeles.
i got the gates package through usps postal mail. it was postmarked march 28 and i got it march 31st.

i live in texas...faxed everything on 26th...got an email from Ms. April today saying that my file was complete...so idk...did anyone else receive an email from her or something...i hope i get notified by the end of the week!!

I received my acceptance packet from GMS the other day and have a question:
My EFC according to FAFSA is $0. However, the college that I am considering (Cornell) uses the CSS Profile to calculate my financial aid award. Since this methodology also includes my fathers income, it is likely that the EFC (as determined by the Profile) will be about $10,000. The reason for this is because CSS includes my noncustodial parent's income whereas my FAFSA does not.

First off, will this EFC jeopardize my GMS Scholar status?

Also, if I do decide to attend Cornell, how much should I expect GMS to pay?

hahastupidme...i never got an email telling me my file was complete. I sent my documents in parts ... so after I sent my transcript and school report, i got an email from her saying I was missing the rest. I faxed those 2 days later. I calld GMS yesterday and they said my file was complete...if I don't receive and email from her, should I be worried??

i don't think u should be worried b/c i had emailed her a week before regarding some questions that i had, she never replied back until today and told me that my file was complete...i hope everyone of us here on CC gets it!!

and on a different topic...it would really nice to have you guys' names because it gets weird after a while referring to you guys by your screen names LOL ... like

"ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh said ..." or "hahastupidme told me ..."

Reading your panicked ridden posts are not good for my blood pressure!

(Exaggerating, I don't have a hypertension problem!)

I haven't heard anything. I faxed some of my stuff and school mailed the rest the week of 3/17, my file was complete and under review by the 3/25.

You guys are forgetting that the stuff isn't even due until 4/11.

If today were May 2, I'd probably say we could worry if we hadn't heard...but really, I don't think any of us should be freaking out.
