Gather Here, Lets talk Pro/College/World Sports

Hey, thought we needed some attention to this. What teams do you guys follow? Or maybe some teams you jump on the bandwagon for during playoffs?

Me, I follow the San Jose Sharks all year, and generally am a bandwagon fan for some bay area team in the MLB during their playoffs (generally the A’s when they’re in.).

I’m generally one of the few in this state who seems to actually care about the NHL and ice hockey. I got to find some people at UCSD who love this sport. Maybe at least street hockey?

sigh…the life of a California Hockey lover…

In other news, World Cup this year! Excited? Have a home country you’re cheering for?

I decided I'm just not going to study for my Calc AP because my psychology teacher is ruining my life with my data analysis that's due first thing tomorrow. And I didn't even procrastinate this time. :(

So. Sports. I'm a girl and I love watching them.

Baseball: Yankees fan since forever. I just grew up watching them, but I don't necessarily have any ties to New York. I know every man on the roster, and I watch them play the A's at least twice a year. I also watch every series against the Red Sox, whom I loathe passionately (2004 was a bad year). In fact, I take the rivalry so seriously that I refused to apply to any schools in Beantown because I'd probably end up going insane.

College football: I admit I watch 'SC. Reggie Bush was amazing last season (512 YARDS AGAINST FRESNO STATE, W T F), despite his poor performance in the Rose Bowl. I hate Mack Brown and VY, by the way. Too bad Bush's family is under investigation right now. Their program is under a lot of heat.

Pro football: I'm a closet 'Niners fan. They suck a royal nut now, but I remember wearing my dad's jerseys back when I was like, six years old ('94 Super Bowl). The Golden Age.

NCAA Baskeball: Amazing. I love it even though my final four was scrapped this year (except for UCLA, but I don't like their basketball program at all). I follow mostly UNC and MSU.

Hockey: Sharks fan. I'm from San Jose so this is under obligation. Watching hockey on TV is a pain, though. I can never see the puck. Going the games is a different story; phenomenal experience, especially if they're doing well.

NBA: Prefer college ball.

World Cup: Anyone but Brazil. I'm not even kidding. They're so tired.

Tennis: Hot men.

Golf: Snore.

Nascar: Would rather shoot myself in the face, thanks.

Um, as for actually playing sports, I play volleyball and swim, and I also ski and snowboard. But those aren't really ESPN-focused so nobody cares.

Addict? You bet.

Love the TAR HEELS!! Final Four here we come... ( I Wish)
yea so thats my college basketball team.

NBA- Detroit Pistons nd the Charlotte Bobcats...

NFL- Carolina Panthers

I'm fine with all the other sports, except I really dont have a favorite team/player...

Basketball: The Lakers! Who watched the game on Sunday? It was basically amazing.

Baseball: The Angels!

as you can tell, I'm from Southern California :)

Baseball: I live in NY, so i am a Yankees fan for life. It was hard watching them take a beating yesterday; Wang needs to get settled in much earlier and stop throwing those 30 pitch 1st innings. Definitely going to miss seeing Yankees games while in school.

Basketball: Again, im from NY so for better or for worse, i am a Knicks fan for life. Horrible year. They definitely need to ditch Marbury, he just brings the whole team down with negative attitude. I think we'll be ok for next year once hes gone. There are alot of peices we can use for trade as well ( Q-Rich, Jalen Rose, S. Francis et cetera). Also if Channing Frye is ok he can have a dominant sophmore year.
For the rest of the NBA, the playoffs are great this year. I love the Pistons, they'll def. be going to at least the NBA Finals. The Heat are done, too much bickering; Chicago is doing well. The West is insane right now, Kobe is possessed. I think Sac is going to beat the Spurs, they are a total mess right now. In the end i think it will be Detriot over The Mavs; though the west is more up in the air.

College Basketball: Huge fan; my bracket was ok ; i got 2/4 for the Final Four ( LSU, UCLA). Im a big fan of Georgetown basketball, as well as some other teams.

NFL: Not huge of football, but i do watch it. Giants fan as of now; kind of pitiful the way they lost during the postseason, and their draft picks were puzzling. I dont know; im beginning to become more of a Chargers fan to be honest; i like the direction the team is headed in, even though they did choke at the end of last year.

College Football: I pretty much like everyteam; i was rooting for USC this year.

Hockey: Dont really watch it.

Nascar: Dont watch.

Soccer: World cup 2006 is going to be nasty. My friend is going this year; unfortunately i wont be. I think USA has a fighting chance , i mean they're ranked 6th; i believe the rosters were announced today...i'll have to check them out. Anyways; my favorite fc is Arsenal.

well as wayyytooworried knows, i love the sharks, and now that Reggie Bush(my bf) is on the Saints, they are my new favorite NFL team.

NBA: I've grown up in a Lakers house and my loyalty shall remain with them forever. Oh Kobe, do more awesome things like you did on Sunday, maybe I'll hate you less.

If they don't make it to the championship games, I'll be rooting for the Clippers. I've got hometown pride, baby.

MLB - I'm an Italian American, so at the beginning of last baseball season, being a strong baseball fan, I decided that I could either root for the White Sox or the Yankees, and I had to choose the White Sox. Needless to say a good choice

NFL - First game I watched was when the Niners won Super Bowl XXIX, so I'm a lifetime niners fan

NBA - Clippers fan since I'm going to USC. Might as well root for the team that wins more games

NHL - Calgary Flames. Closest pro team

And the US is this year's sleeper team at the World Cup. would not be suprised to see them at the semis or even the final. Imagine a country that on a whole could not care less about soccer beating the rest of the world at it. England would riot. I'm not really a soccer fan and I have never played, but I would like to see it thrive here, and I think the only way it can is by the US winning the world cup. It did help women's soccer after all

NCAA Basketball/Football - UCLA
MLB - Giants
NFL - 49ers
NBA - Lakers
NHL - Sharks

MLB- DODGERS. Most important team to me, by far.
NBA- Clippers! Been a fan since 2000 or so, the Darius Miles/Lamar Odom days. So not a bandwagon! (I just can't stand the Lakers)

NFL - Chargers. Don't pay much attention to them though. Generally not THAT interested in football, but I'll watch when they're on and keep up online.
NCAA football/baseball - UCLA! I still love the Bruins, even if they won't love me back.

MLB - Angels/Dodgers
NBA - Phoenix Suns / New Jersey Nets
NFL - Atlanta Falcons

NCAA Basketball - Duke
NCAA Football - Penn State/UCLA

I'll have to use San Diego, somehow, to fill in my MLB/NFL void. :{

DAMNNN nobody likes soccer?

I think US soccer is totall crap...

it's all about European clubs!!!

GO ARSENAL !! BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF BARCELONA!!!

lol maybe soccer thing just runs in my korean blood

MLB: any team with korean pitcher -_-;;
NBA: LA Clippers, got tired of Kobe
NFL: I LOVE RAIDERS!!! LA needs to bring them back here to so cal..

Well, I like Brazil's and Japan's soccer team.

I also love Brazilian and Italian volleyball.

Peter:

Look under "World Cup" in my post, holmes. Too bad we differ. I could say that I'm sick of Brazil winning World Cups, but someone else could also make the argument that the Yankees have won 26 World Series. So, my lips are sealed.

lol i think brazilian don't have much to do but soccer

now THIS is my kinda thread :)
nba- lakers, as my name says.
nfl- niners
mlb- dont care much, but i root for the giants over ne other team.

NBA- LAKERS (ONLY TEAM IM A MAJOR FAN OF, HAVE BEEN SINCE I WAS 6) WER WRAPPIN THIS THING UP ON THURSDAY BABY...HALLWAY SERIES HER WE COME
NFL- Raiders, dont really care too much..i like players more than teams
College Football- USC TROJANS BABY..I admit, im a bandwagon fan here, but for some reason i just fell in love with them...and imna support them thru it all, im not coppin out just cus bush and leinart left
MLB-dont care

CRICKET-INDIA YEAH BROWN PRIDE BABY YEAHYEHRAEYRHUKAHEEKURHAHDSLDJIASJDIJASIODJAOIDSJI

Not enough hockey fans in this chat. We need more!

It depends NewSlang on where the cameras located when it comes to watching hockey. CBCs cameras always rock as they're alot lower down and closer to the ice. it makes viewing the puck alot better, plus you actually see players faces! If only the US sports channels would invest more in cameras and various angles, Hockey would be alot more fun to watch.

For those following the Sharks, pick your poison for the Semifinals, Edmonton or Colorado? I'm thinking Colorado is the better choice. We match up better with them imo. Plus Edmonton is on a huge boost after upsetting Detroit.

As for World Cup, anyone know when the opening day is?

This is my kind of thread too-

I'm a fan of almost all sports, but there are only two sports that I have specific teams

NFL- gotta love the 49ers, even though they are the worst team in the league

Soccer- San Jose Earthquakes, but they don't even exist anymore, so Chelsea

World Cup Opening ceremonies are June 7 i think and the link to the roster for the U.S. is
http://msn.foxsports.com/soccer/story/5567204

i'm happy to see that there are laker fans in the house!!! woot woot

Lakers vs Suns : Raja Bell -- what's up with that? Should he play during the 6th game?

**also open minded to other sports :-D except...golf -_- sorry
