Well I have lived in Gainesville, Florida my entire life. My mom went to UF, my dad went to UF, both of my aunts went to UF, my grandfather is a former professor at UF, and I attended the UF Laboratory school. But this summer, I will be starting at FSU and I will be doing a double major of Economics and Theatre. I was wondering if any current students, former students, parents of students, or anyone affiliated with FSU has any major tips or advice. I'm really excited!!

Don’t go to an FSU football game while wearing orange and blue. That’d be a huge mistake.

I have a friend that actually started at UF as an engineering major, and transferred to FSU. She’s still got some ties to liking UF, but by far is now much more of an FSU lover.

I’m really not sure what tips to give besides the standard starting out at college tips: Get used to having to deal with people you want to punch in the face. Get used to likely having a roommate that will annoy the crap out of you. Get used to days where you just don’t want to do anything, but have to finish a huge assignment before the next day. Get used to possibly erratic sleep schedules, boring classes, professors in otherwise interesting classes that will make watching paint dry seem absolutely fascinating, and of course, if you get a meal plan, get used to having sub-par food from the dining facilities.

There’s really nothing major. The big part of adjusting is learning time management and adjusting to whatever is in front of you. Learn to tackle things head-on instead of pushing them aside.

Well, just not in the student section.

Well, I was going off the idea that if you’re going to an FSU football game as an FSU student, that you’re more than likely sitting in the student section.

But yeah, good point.

Haha obviously, I’m mostly converting to be a Nole but I will still have some Gator ties. Just curious as far as Greek Life, I want to be involved in a fraternity, I party a little but I don’t want to go get wasted every weekend and I don’t want to go through some ridiculous over-the-top hazing. Are there fraternities like that?

Lots of Noles and Gators have family ties. Nothing new. My father attended UF for grad school as did other family members. Thanksgiving is always best when FSU wins the annual game. ;)

Really… Congrats on leaving the farm!
