Do newly accepted students have a Gatorlink mailbox yet? If so, how do you get into it?

I'm not sure about this, maybe someone else will. Do any one think they will tell you all at the preview/orientation-how to set it up?

Yes, you should.

In fact, funny thing. Before I even got my decision I was able to get a Gatorlink mailbox. Then I found out I was rejected last year, but the mail box remained running, to this day! Before I was rejected and lost access to my Gatorlink account, I happened to set up account forwarding through myufl.edu. So everything sent there gets forwarded to my AOL account. Apparently, my access to the management of the account was severed, but the actual existence of it is intact!

So someone can still email dvm258emailaddress@ufl.edu and I'll still get it! Better still, I can reply, and keep the @ufl.edu intact, as if I'm actually a student.

UF just does not know how to manage their email. Haha.

According to myUFL, "You don't have a forwarding address and you don't have a GatorLink mailbox, so mail to xxxxx@ufl.edu is not being delivered." This is under the Email Forwarding category. How do I make it so that I can access mail emailed to my ufl account?

Invictus8, in MyUFL go to My Account and there is an option to Set Gatorlink Mailbox forwarding. We had set this up some months ago for my D to forward to her Yahoo mail, but frankly she hasn't received anything. I also read that they don't allow the forwarding for students anymore because of spam filters and such. Once the forwarding is set up, I don't see how to undo it and not make it forward. She cannot log into the Gator Webmail with her gator email address.

So there's no actual inbox on myUFL? You can only forward it to another account?

Yep. I don't know if it's intentional or not (the prof I still talk to from UF seems to think it's not) but I graduated over a year ago and I still have my UF e-mail address.

Your inbox is not at myUFL. Its here: https://webmail.ufl.edu/login.do

You register for you gatorlink here: GatorLink Home Page
Your GL username is going to be your email username: username@ufl.edu

Forwarding is hit or miss. It generally not allow unless you are forwarding to another @ufl account. You can have gmail retrieve the mail from your ufl account, if you want.

I don't have to register for a GL account because I already have one. But when I tried logging in at webmail.ufl.edu it said that I have no inbox.

I guess admissions hasn't sent the accept info over to IT/webmail people yet. I would check back over the next week or two.

Okay, thanks. I wanted to know because I was going to change my Facebook network to UF '13, but it needed my UF address so it could send a confirmation email to it.
