How is the Gay community treated at your school. Is it a problem, not a problem?
I'd like to hear what people have to say on here so that we don't just rely on the PR rankings.
My school, which (to my surprise) made the list this year is accepting but not so accepting as to be one of the most accepting schools in the country (St. John's, Santa Fe). New College of Florida, which was #1 this year definitely deserves the spot. I've visited a few times and from what I've seen there is pretty much no distinction between gay and straight (except of course that little thing about gay people being attracted to the same sex), gay people are treated just like straight people there is absolutely no apprehensionunlike at many schools where when people find out your gay they are like, Oh
erm
cool. Thats about how it is here, they are accepting but still a little apprehensive.

Both of my alma maters (University of Delaware and University of Pennsyvania) have large gay populations and have a large accepting student body. I never had any issues with being accepted on either campus.

Penn specifically has a Gay & Lesbian Alumni Association which is great.
