I was just wondering how accepting/open minded pomona students are in this regard. Is there a large or active gay community? what seems to be the general opinion of queer life at the school?

Probably half the dorms I walked by when I visited had an 'I support queer rights' sign on their door.

Being able to speak.. very personally about this subject, "gay life" is pretty good at Pomona. There is a an active gay community at Pomona called QQAMP and I believe each of the 5 colleges has their own version of this. I find that the people in QQAMP are a very tight-nit group and I do know several kids who are in it and seem happy with it. However, I am not involved in it at all and but am completely satisfied since everyone here is really so accepting (which is certainly something I was worried about).

As a whole, people here seem to be completely open-minded and understanding. I haven't run into any problems whatsoever and I don't think I've heard any bad stories from anyone else either. I guess the only negative would be that, while it is widely accepted, the gay population appears to be very, very small at Pomona (I think the percentage of guys is higher than girls though).

There is a fairly active gay/queer/questioning community on the 5-C's.
