How is Amherst in terms of acceptance of its gay students? And would you say the students are accepting as well as the school itself?

you posted this same thing for CORNELL right?

and also for many ohter colleges right?

what does it matter how many sites this inquiry was posted. The person obviously want to find out how gay friendly certain institutions are. I’m interested in the response since this isn’t a topic that I’ve noticed discussed on this website.

i’m interested too, esp in amherst

i did. i am just starting my college search, and this is a very important subject. So i posted it on a lot of them.

in case you’re wondering, it seems the most “gay friendly” (or at least the one that’s most vocal about it) seems to be yale.

If I was you I would talk to gay students actually at the College and get their opinion. Otherwise you’ll get the usual mish-mosh of hearsay, 2nd and 3rd hand opinion, recounting of past events both good and bad.

Here’s some info from the Amherst website that should give some leads as to how to make contact with current gay students:

hmmmm,
Round here, the one supposed to have the most gay friendly environment was thought to be Harvard. I had even once heard the rumour that Harvard had gay quotas which it turned out to be obviously false.

Lol… such a quota sounds like it would be really difficult to administer.

well, according to a lot of different places, it’s yale. they even call it the “gay ivy” But i’m sure harvard is also very accepting of its gay students. it’s just that yale was one of the first to start doing so…

ohh ok. But i don’t think i’ll ever apply to yale. I’ll give Harvard a shot though :)

okay, yeah yale sucks! (i say this so you wont apply and i have a better chance) haha

aside from yale…brown, swarthmore, vassar, and wesleyan are all known to be really gay-friendly
