Gay Tolerance?

Whats the scene like in BU? How do the majority of the students feel? Whats Spectrum like?

I think I read in an article somewhere that one of the admin people of BU is homophobic? Or that the president closed down the only gay straight alliance club in BU?

Liberals only please, I don’t need a bible lecture.

Uh - I think the gay community is very accepted here. At least 25% of the males here are gay and I don’t think many people have problems with that…

OP

You are going to Boston University, not Baylor University. Lose the attitude.

^he doesn’t have an attitude for 1. asking a question about the social/tolerance environment at BU, OR 2. making known that he would rather not get lectured about going to hell for all of eternity, or some crap like that. anyways…

i have heard that it’s pretty gay-friendly…like a less extreme version of NYU. i also recall having heard that the guys are either ugly, taken, or gay…pretty much spread evenly, lolll.

Yeah, that’s how it goes. The cutest guys in my class are gay. sigh Either gay or I’m suspicious of their sexuality. Nobody ever outright asks for your orientation, though. At least no one I know. It seems rude.

nickel! i had always pictured you as a guy : P

Nickel is a girl! I got this screename in high school. Nickel and Xenon are my favorite elements.

hahaha, i assumed ‘nickel’ was a play on ‘nick’. but, good to know, lol.

Noooo! Nickel is my favorite because it’s all metallic and silvery looking and quarters are covered in Nickel. And if you have quarters you can get a gum ball from the machine. And Xenon sounds like something out of a sci-fi show. And I really like Star Trek. Xenon for some reason makes me think of Star Trek or Stargate because it sounds like something you’d name in a sci-fi show. So that’s why it’s Nickel Xenon. ^_^‘’

xenon really does sound like something out of star track, lol. nickel just reminds me of nickelback, who i have mixed feelings about : P

@thisgirlisaG: I’ve never heard their music before.

@OP: Why are you worried about this? Have you never been to the north before? It’s pretty liberal.

Yeah, I’ve been to New England before…and I’m from half way around the globe so I don’t exactly know how tolerant BU is.
Anyways, how active is Spectrum?

I’ve never seen someone’s sexuality be a problem before, but just like anywhere else in the world, there are always intolerant people. I haven’t seen any personally, but I’m sure they’re there. I’m not sure how active the club is. I’d suggest looking at their website and asking them directly. I’m not in that club so I can’t tell you about its activities.

Boston is very gay and lesbian friendly and so is BU. There is an active g/l nightlife scene in both Boston and Cambridge and there are multi-school g/l groups.

Wait, are there really ~25% gay males at BU? Just curious.

So 60% Girls, 40% Guys. 40% x 25% = 30% Guys for ~60% Girls. Yay for me? Haha.

^i know, right? lol.

The gay comment was just one of those things people like to toss out and of course it isn’t true. I find it annoying. There are a bunch of schools where guys are described as gay, including Yale. It’s juvenile.

BU Spectrum = [Welcome to Spectrum: BU?s LGBT Social Organization](http://people.bu.edu/spectrum/Spectrum__BUs_LGBT_Social_Organization/Welcome.html)

^OMG, my tour guide was friends with that first kid, zac, who ran over to our group & started telling us all of these great stories about BU. he’s super funny. he mentioned growing up in nebraska, too. so weird i saw him when i was there : P
