Gemstone and CIVICUS

Is it possible to transfer into Gemstone or CIVICUS program after a year in UMD? Can I do both?

thanks!

I’m going to say no to all of your questions. I don’t work for admissions or anything, but I’m reasonably sure.

Ugh. I got the invitation but I don’t wanna do it for the first year.

Thanks for answering!

You got an invitation for both? Isn’t one scholars and one a part of honors?

no only the Gemstone thing…

it is possible to transfer into the civicus program, but you can’t be in another living and learning program. this means that you would need to drop out of honors as well as gemstone. (civicus is its own program and not part of scholars btw)

gemstone is a 4 year program. you must do it all 4 years. it is 3 years of research though. the first year is designed to be pretty easy. if you’re interested in doing it after a year, id just sign up for it any how. the first semester is almost exactly the same for people in university honors and for people in gemstone.
