General Advice on Emory

Hey I'm new to this and just looking for some advice about doing a year in Emory University next year.I'm from Ireland and im thinking about applying to uni there. If anyone has some answers I'd be very appreciative!

Whats the experience like for international students? Is it an easy place to fit into, considering i'll only be there a year?Does anyone know what the law course is like?Whats the social scene like?

Any help would be great especially from someone in the Law school, cheers!

This forum mostly attracts undergraduates and undergraduate applicants (I’m an undergraduate applicant), so I’m not sure if you’ll find (m)any law school students on this thread–particularly not international ones. You may have more luck here: [Law School - College Confidential](Law School - College Confidential Forums). I guess the best advice is to apply and if/when you get accepted, come and visit, if possible.

Since you said you’d only be here a year, I’m assuming you’re looking at LLM programs. Do you plan to practice law here, in America?

In the USA, it generally takes a Juris Doctor (JD) degree to practice law. (California will let you take a qualifying test instead.)

That means you have to get your basic BA or BS first, then apply to a specialty law school. (Emory has a very good one.)

If you want to study law as an academic matter, Emory has a great comparative law program housed in the Political Sciences Department. (My son just completed it.)
