General Business-does the major matter?

Well i recently decided to go back to college and i picked general business as my major. I know that some people may say that it is too broad but im not so sure. I was interested in management and economics, but i decided to pass because management just seemed like it was nothing but fluff classes and with economics not enough people majored in it to offer classes so if you are an econ major, instead of taking 18 hours of econ, you take 9 upper level econ hours and then 9 upper level hours of finance! umm my math skills are not that great AND im not interested in finance so i passed on that. That left me with accounting, mis, and general business(there are more business majors but im not interested in them) So, i decided to not do accounting because it seems so boring and i do like mis but i found out it suffers the same problem as econ! Not enough people major in it! I finally just decided to do general business and i just wanted to know if that was a good choice? I do like business alot but im afraid it is TOO broad. What sort of jobs do people with general business degrees have?

It is too broad. What school are you at that the business school is so lackluster and the curriculum so ridiculous? It is clear that people obviously stay away from the business school at your college and I might advise you to do the same. Pick another major or find a different school…I can’t imagine paying tuition to a school that can’t even offer full curriculums because of a lack of enrollment.

Im going to go ahead and say it, Lamar University. I was going for business and i got interested in spanish…like ALOT. I loved all my classes and i dreamed of being a prof., so i switched after that i realized that the classes were on a rotating schedule of 2 upper level classes every semester! So if you missed one, you would need to wait a year before you could possibly retake. As my minor I had taken a history class and i like it so i took another one…and another one…and another one! Before i knew it, i had switched from spanish to history and i got my bachelors in that. Im going back for business though because I feel that no corporation will hire me with a non business major or is that not true?
