Are there any online colleges that offer general education classes that don’t cost over $500 bucks per class? I don’t know about you, but is it impossible to find the price without talking to a bunch of people and hearing the speal that is irrelevant to your needs?
For general ed. classes, look at the public community colleges. A number of them are now offering on-line courses. Here is a comprehensive list by state:
[U.S</a>. Community Colleges, by State](<a href=“http://www.utexas.edu/world/comcol/state/]U.S”>http://www.utexas.edu/world/comcol/state/)
I can’t remember which one it is (somewhere in New Mexico??) but I found one a while back where the cost was around $100/credit hour for out of state students.
[Clovis</a> Community College](<a href=“http://www.clovis.edu/EducationalServices/DistanceEducation/index.asp]Clovis”>http://www.clovis.edu/EducationalServices/DistanceEducation/index.asp) in New Mexico. Out-of-state residents may take up to two classes at in-state rates. Two classes cost less than $250 total.
[Darton</a> College (GA)](<a href=“http://online.darton.edu/dl_fees.html]Darton”>http://online.darton.edu/dl_fees.html). Online-only students pay $345 per course.
[Central</a> Texas College](<a href=“http://online.ctcd.edu/[/url]Central”>http://online.ctcd.edu/[/url). Online classes cost out-of-state residents $390 each.
[Louisiana</a> State University](<a href=“http://www.is.lsu.edu./courselist.asp?nid=202&Level=CO&Online=1%5DLouisiana”>http://www.is.lsu.edu./courselist.asp?nid=202&Level=CO&Online=1) - $251 per online course.
I know that Central Florida Community College is pretty cheap, but I don’t know how cheap…
