General Ed. Requirements if You Have an Associates Degree?

If I get my associates degree from my community college, will I have to take all the general education requirements at my 4 year school? Thanks for the help.

Each 4 yr school will have what it will accept as transfer credits. You need to go to them to find out. If it’s a typical destination for people from your comm college, then the comm college “transfer adviser” can quickly summarize for you since it would be an oft-asked question.

Depends on the school. More selective colleges and out-of-state colleges will take few to none. Most colleges in state should accept them much more readily. Your two options would be to apply to a university as an incoming freshman and let them pick which classes they will give you credit for from your AA, or you can apply as a transfer student and enter as a junior; this last option will only be plausible with certain majors. As an engineering or science major, for example, you have to take a series of courses in a certain progression which takes a lot of time, and something you might not be able to do in two years unless you considered your future major when selecting what courses to take to complete your AA. However, someone like a criminal justice major would have a much easier time doing this.
