whar are some general education classes one should take for most schools?

math
science
english
social sciences
etc.

i was told it looks good to take classes within the above subjects that relate to your major. i.e. if you’re an econ major, take stats and precalc (math gen ed) and take macro/micro (social science gen ed)

etc etc etc

Personally I believe the The Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) is the best general education guideline/program (whatever you want to call it) out there. Though IGETC is just for California Community Colleges it will definitely assist you because it’s so thorough.

Basically you have several areas such as English Communication or Arts and Humanities, etc, where you have to complete several courses in that specific area. I’ve attached a link so you can see the areas.

[University of California - Admissions](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/paths_to_adm/transfer/tr_info_ccc/tr_planning_IGETC.html)

[IGETC | Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum](http://www.igetc.org/)

Is also a good site because you can click on each area and see all the courses that fall in that area. And if you’re not from a California Community College than all you’d have to do is match the courses with the ones at your school.
