So, like you can understand from the title I'm moving to the states (California) and wanted to hear a bit of college life.
The little knowledge I have is from dumb college movies, so anything closer to reality is welcomed.

Another question, because in my country military service is mandatory and I travelled a bit I'll be attending at about age 23. Will people be okay with that or will I be that old weird foreign dude?

Thanks for answering!
And if it helps, I'll be going for computer science in one of the UC's.

Where are you coming from?

Honestly, as an 18 year old fresh out of high school, I still saw the people who were juniors and seniors (20-22) as way older than me. I liked to pretend we were friends (lol), but part of me subconsciously just didn’t feel on their level.

When I moved abroad for this year though, that all changed and I have friends who are as young as 18 and as old as 35, because I just never made the distinction by class or anything. You don’t think about it and it’s just not a problem.

So, just act like you’re one of everyone else and they probably won’t care. On the plus (or downside, depending on how you look at it), you’ll be seen as an asset because you’re over 21.

As for college life, it’s really dependent on the school and the person. There are a lot of house parties, a lot of random campus events and clubs, and a lot of other things that are cliché in movies about American college life.
