General question for the Engineering Community

Daughter was accepted as a Mechanical Engineering major at some schools that are not well known as “engineering” schools and not highly ranked at all in engineering. She was also accepted as a “Mechanical Engineering Technology” major a a school that is always ranking as one of the top engineering schools in the country. Looking for advise. Is the MET degree from the top school more valuable then a ME degree from much lower ranked schools? (asking on this MB because I think a lot of “math/engineering/technical” type of people may read this board)

Recommend you include the names of the schools in your posting for better response…

Thanks, was hoping to keep in more generic. Purdue is the MET school. Trying to gauge that degree vs an ME degree from various lower tier schools.

It was my experience that many times head hunters or HR before they present resumes to hiring managers pre-select them. The MET can put people off since they do not know it.Later in the career MET versus ME will be less important since he/she will have other work experience to show what she/he IS.
