General school/SAT/college advice please? (Junior atm)

GRADES:
Freshman year... I'm not sure if they even take account for this? I thought they only take account for soph/junior/(maybe)senior years! I'm a bit new to college researching, so I honestly don't remember my GPA or grades back then b/c I didn't like school and they were pretty bad.
So last year as a sophomore, I didn't do so great because I had the wrong motive for my grades (fear of parents' disapproval). One magnificent day my sophomore year when that report card with a GPA of 3.0 1st semester came in the mail, I stood up to my parents strategically and told them that I was tired of being disrespected for bad grades, and that we should come to mutual terms of acceptance. That's when things started snapping together. Because of that I started working harder in second semester and got a GPA of 3.33.

World History: B, B
Chemistry H: B, B
Symphonic Band: A, A
Spanish 3: C, C
Alg 2: C, B
World Lit: B, A

Junior year: I'm doing way better, most likely going to get a 4.0 or 4.17 weighted this semester. 2nd semester should probably be about the same as this.

(Most likely, only 1st semester) v
Law: A
Physics H: A, B if I'm unlucky
Java: A
Pre-Calc H: A
American Studies (American Lit H): B
American Studies (US History): B

My senior year is very extensive compared to this year, so how much do colleges take account for these things? First of all, where can I even find this information? But here's my future schedule. And these classes are actually the ones I want to take, these are my interests! I'm not taking them JUST because they're AP, actually that's not even my first reason for taking them so therefore i should be quite motivated to do well in them.

AP Calc BC/Physics C: Mechanics (double block, both APs)
AP US Gov/Econ
AP Comp Sci
AP Music Theory
Some easy lit, of course.
SATs:
I haven't taken the SAT yet, but I'm going to sign up for classes that start in 2nd semester. I've done some self studying and took the PSAT for my first time with NO prior practice receiving (CR: 46 M: 67 WR: 43). I'm aiming for 2100+ though in order to give myself an advantage to my lower grades from past years. I'm probably going to take the SAT I once or twice 2nd semester, and SAT II for Physics and Math 2 in March or May. How many times can you take the SAT without it looking bad? Is cancelling scores a good idea? Again, where can I find this information?
EXTRA CURRICULARS:
I did drumline for a while, going to go back in senior year. I'm also auditioning for drum corps with Santa Clara Vanguard Cadets. I play a few sports, and I'm planning to do swimming or track this year, and waterpolo or soccer next year. I'm in our district's infamous Interact community service club. I think I'll do science bowl at our school next year. I'm going to do leadership next year, as well! I'd like to get an intern 2nd semester if I have time w/ SAT classes and all. Is an intern or a job better? I feel like an intern is, but the community here probably knows better. And should I get anything else in here? Like I said, I really want to be able to boost my chances due to bad sophomore year grades.
COLLEGES/INTERESTS:
I want to keep my options broad in terms of what I want to major in, but I'm quite interested in science and engineering, and political science. I'll hopefully find other fields I am interested in as well, but here are some schools I want to go to:
Dream: CalTech, Harvey Mudd. Realistic: UCLA, UC Berkeley, UCSD, UC Davis, Cal Poly SLO.

Advice is highly appreciated!

Your grades show an upward trend, and that’s usually a good thing. I’d say that you should take the SAT three times at most. I have no knowledge about cancelling scores. Browse around the forums, I suppose.

At the moment, your EC’s seem more like a “laundry list” to me, though I guess there really isn’t that much. But as long as you stick to things you actually want to do, that’s fine. Suddenly adding EC’s in senior year usually imply that you’re doing it for college though.

I think that you should concentrate on the SAT classes if you want to get a 2100+ (if you convert your PSAT score to SAT, that’d be an almost 600 points up), but that might just be me. If you’re interested into science/engineering/political science or something, you can either find an internship/job (or you know, you can volunteer even if you already have Interact) that has to do with those subjects, though that seems pretty hard to do. I doubt that a job would be better than an internship or vice versa though.

For the record…I find it really hard to believe that you think that UCLA and UC Berkeley are realistic. Those two are pretty selective, especially Berkeley for all the subjects you’re interested in. I’m not too sure about UCLA.

Anyway, keep working hard, take lots of SAT practice tests, and good luck.
