General things about the SAT and some questions

Hello everybody, Poofey here.

I'm a rising sophomore (I know, I shouldn't really be worrying about this but I'm taking a SAT summer camp/academy and I'm here to improve my skills) and want some general feedback of the tests.

People told me that your GPAs are much more important as opposed to your SAT (and other standardized test scores) -- is this really true?

Also what is considered a "good" score? Is there a benchmark value that distinguishes the good from the bad?

After 4 weeks of practice everyone at the camp/academy took the test from 2011 January and I scored a 2030 with my Math being 730, Reading 620, and Writing 680 (8 Essay, graded by the teachers). I'm trying to improve in my Reading section mainly, as Math and Writing tend to be more easier for me, at least. And so I would just like to ask what you guys have done in the past to solve CR problems or other techniques you have incorporated.

All in all I want some general feedback of how one can succeed in the SAT tests. Of course there is a lot of practice and experienced involved, but I'm looking for maybe other techniques that I could apply in order to enhance my scores.

Thanks everybody in advance (by the way I'm loving the community here)

I wouldn’t say its “much more” important.

There’s no broad score that distinguishes between good and bad. It all depends on the colleges that you wish to go to. For the ivies and other top universities, you want to be above 2100 (a suggestion, but there is not true benchmark value). While for your average state university, your score can afford to be much lower.

A score above 2000 i will consider to be good and a hard working student. The best way to increase your scores is to study and study. There is no secret formula to success except hard work.

In my opinion sat and sat ii scores and ap are the most important things to colleges and after them is gpa. It is like 60% sat,ap,and sat ii; 35% Gpa and 5% all others
