Geography in admissions

<p>I think some state universities take geographic/socioeconomic diversity within the state into account. I think by and large private colleges/universities won’t care so much about intra-state geographic diversity, though some do make socioeconomic status a “diversity” factor.</p>

<p>at the info session, william and mary said that it considers geographic diversity a part of its holistic review, although not as much as they would like due to state regulations. conversely, i was told that boston college does not. i guess it depends on the school and its private/public status?</p>

<p>So i should focus on that in when i transfer 2011 on my application?</p>

<p>My sister’s Columbia interviewer straight up told her that being from Delaware gave her a leg-up.</p>
