George Washington University or Loyola University Chicago?

So I'll start off with the unfortunate news that I was rejected from my dream school, Northwestern, and deferred from my second choice, Georgetown. As upset as I've been about it, I'm starting to think I might like my safeties a little more and they may end up being better fits for me. I've already been accepted to Loyola Chicago and am awaiting my decision from George Washington which won't come until like March or April (though I'm almost positive I'll get in, like I said, it's a safety so I'm kind of overqualified.)

I'm just looking for some input from others who have had first hand experiences with either or both schools. Of course I will ultimately make the final decision, I would just love to hear what others have to say! In terms of major I applied for Journalism at LUC which I may end up changing and then International Affairs at GWU. Any advice or tips would be much appreciated about either the particular schools, dorms, campuses, meal plans, greek life, party scene...anything at all! Thanks!! :)

Don’t be discouraged, You still have a chance with Georgetown and although Loyola Chicago isn’t an Ivy League it’s an excellent school, they have a strong reputation and why wouldn’t you wanna be in Chicago ?!

If international affairs is your academic/professional area of interest than GW is a great place to study. It’s definitely an urban school though, so you have to be okay with that kind of environment. That said, DC is a great place to be a student. Weather is much better than Chicago, good public transportation, great internships at international organizations, faculty with connections to those organizations, and smart, interesting kids.

Why not post this in the GW and the Loyola forums for actually students to respond to your questions about student life? And get on line and read back issues of the student newspapers for both schools so you can get sense of what the student body is like.
