Georgetown Chance

Georgetown is my dream school, I mean my absolute dream. I’ve wanted to attend since I was a little girl, and my ambition has only grown.

However, I am aware of how competitive the applicant pool is, and as a sophomore, I already feel unqualified and nervous. I was wondering if you could look at my stats and say if you feel I’m on the right track to getting into Georgetown.

SAT: being only a sophomore I’ve never taken the SAT, but I did do fairly well on the PSAT, including getting an 800 in the CR section, but the math really confused me. With all the preparation I’m doing, I’m expecting myself to get a 2150-2200, but hopefully a 2280(a girl can dream).
ACT: never taken it
GPA: freshman year was not so hot for me, I got a 3.7 W (3.64UW :(((( ), but sophomore year I’m maintaining 4.02 W/3.9 UW so far , and I hope and pray that with diligent work, I can get a 4.5 W/4.0 UW junior year. That would put my cumulative UW GPA at a 4.00 exactly, and if I got a 4.00 or higher my first semester of senior year, then it would be even higher
EC’s: on track for 4 year varsity soccer
One year JV lacrosse
On track for Deans List all quarters of high school
Debate team
Students Against Drunk Driving Club
Sophomore Student Government Representative
80+ Christian service hours with a church
40+ hours with Habitat for Humanity
Georgetown University Law and Diplomacy Summer camp
National Honors Society
National French Honors Society

Does it sound like I am on the right track? Is my GPA too low? I’m so worried that freshman year will crush all of my dreams :frowning:

Aas long as you go up from there and follow your expected GPA increase, you should be fine. A 2250+ would be awesome. If you could get that, I would say it is a high match. Good luck! Chance back: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1753701-chance-me-ill-chance-back-p1.html

By no means am i an expert, but I would say this to you, Do your personal best grade wise, continue taking challenging classes, and most importantly don’t think of your EC’s in terms of numbers. I believe top tier schools will be much more impressed by your passion and commitment than by “how much” or “how many” EC’s you are involved with. I am guessing you are looking forward to applying to SFS ? Fluency in a language is always a good thing, although D got in with Latin as her only language.

Also, bust your butt on the PSAT prep, no doubt N.M. standing would be beneficial not only at G’town but at many schools. Wishing you the best.

Georgetown does not look at writing so focus on CR+M. I think you have an ok shot to be honest. I think your GPA could hurt you though, because it should be a bit higher. You can fix this tho if you do really good next year. good luck!
