Hello!
I have been really confused how good I have to be to get into my dream school, Georgetown University. I understand that Georgetown is a very hard school to get into, so I would you to read my current activities to give me advice on how I can make my application stand out, and be a shoe in for Georgetown.
Currently I am a freshman going into my sophomore year at a small public school in the north east. My school is ranked the 7th best (3%) in my state by the U.S. News and worlds report. I am a white female and a 2nd generation American. My father went to a military school for college and my mother went to a small non-selective liberal arts school. My parents are not rich, but can pay for SAT/ACT prep, and a private college councilor. (Both which we are setting up now).
In school I am taking pretty hard classes.
Freshman Year:
Honors Geometry - B (89% - still angry)
Honors Language Arts - A
Honors Chemistry - A
ACP Social Studies - A (Didn’t have an honors class only an AP class (AP human geography),I didn’t want to take freshman year.
ACP Spanish 1 - A (School dose not offer Honors)
Intro to art - A
Gym - A
Sports Broadcasting - A
My unweighted GPA for freshman year was a 3.88.
For sophomore year I am going to be taking:
Honors Language arts
Honors Bio
H pre - calc
AP US History
ACP Spanish 2
Health Online
Beginner Piano
GYM
I hope to get all A’s sophomore year.
I think my EC’s are pretty strong, but I’m not sure.
President of my class
MUN participant
Selected to be on a grant making board called “The Girls Advisory Board”
Assistant teacher at my local Catholic Church for CCD.
Out of school recreational soccer
8 years piano player.
Next year I am going to be joining…
The Feminist club at my school
Mock trial
This summer I also took a full scale Algebra 2 class and got an A in it.
I am a little worried I am not taking a varsity sport, but my college councilor said that I don’t have to.
Can you all just let me know what I have to do to improve my resume? I understand that since I have not taken the SAR or ACT, that it might be difficult to chance me, but can you at least let me know if I am on the right track to get accepted to Georgetown? And, can you give me other options of colleges I should take a look at that should like they would suit me?
Thanks!
