Hi! I was deferred from Georgetown early action this past December, does anyone have any recommendations that could strengthen my application and give me a better chance for the coming round?
Thank you!
I would suggest writing a letter of continued interest to share any new accomplishments or an update on how your school year is going since you submitted your application.
And state you will attend if admitted (if truthful).
My daughter applied to Georgetown 2 application cycles ago and was also deferred. They were very upfront in their deferral letter that only 10% of deferred applicants will be accepted in the RD round. Other than a LOCI, unless you have some material achievements that have not already been reported to Georgetown there really isn’t anything to do but wait at this point.
My daughter was not part of the 10% that were accepted in the RD round and initially was not at all happy about the school that she committed to as Georgetown was her first choice. But she’s now a sophomore and incredibly happy at that university so even if Georgetown doesn’t come through for you please be open to being happy at whatever university you do end up attending.
@adlgel thank you so much! It’s always reassuring to hear that everything works out in the end.
@Happy4u does this help if they don’t take into account demonstrated interest? They say they don’t, but I’m always suspicious.
Do you guys have the red X’s still on your checklists or did you ever have them? We never had them, not sure why. Still don’t.
@lauren16410 All schools want students who are admitted to attend. Yield can be an important statistic for schools. Good luck to you!
Just wondering, how many green checks do you guys have on your portals? My son noticed his went down, from like 9 to 6 or something like that. Also has no Red X’s or those lines they say you will have showing somethings as incomplete. Wondering what your portals show?
hey everyone!
Sadly, I just got deferred early action.
I was wondering what you wrote in the LOCI and did it help you?
I heard that the chances are significantly less for EA deferred applicants, so were you accepted in RD?
