Somewhat. I know a lot of Army officers affiliated with West Point, and the Boys State program has extensive connections with USMA (The Boys State pin is the only civilian pin authorized by the United States Military Academy). Also a few Generals who I know have extensive connections there, so. shrug

I had a pretty good time. All in all, though, I don't think that the Academy is the right place for me, considering my goals and what I want to study. Indoc was definetly the most fun I had there. :)

Not too long after getting back from SS, I found out that I was color blind, which, combined with my already poor vision, makes it nearly impossible for me to get in to the Academy.

I'm applying for Army ROTC and Air Force ROTC scholarships. Navy ROTC requires perfect color vision, and I'd rather not pursue the Marine Corps. I plan to go active for four years after college, and then do some graduate work or go on to law school (I may also do grad work while in the military, if possible). Then again, I might try to serve all my time in the reserves/guard. Regardless, I'm going to serve in the military in some capacity for the eight years following undergrad.

That's cool, Josh. Have you heard anything from the Army ROTC people at Georgetown yet? I think we have to interview. Are you applying to any other schools with AROTC? I've done literally about 6 frickin' interviews, and they're the same questions every time! I think I'd like to pursue Counter-Intelligence or Law in the Marine Corps. Hopefully, if I don't go career, I'd have enough experience to work in the CIA. Big hopes, I know, but what can I say?

Indoc definitely was the coolest thing ever! I actually really enjoyed Sea Trials as well. It was such a satisfying feeling. Plus, I was so loopy by the end of it, I laughed at everything. After running on 4 hours of sleep every night... Hahah, and I even went to see this guy at 2:30 in the morning who was standing Watch. We talked for an hour and a half, and then the Regimental Commander, a 6-striper, walked up! Hahhaha, we just about freaked. When asked what we were doing, the guy that I was talking to blurted something out at the same time I did. He said, "She's just getting water, Sir" (yea right, for an hour and a half," and I said, "He's imparting words of wisdom to me, sir!" The Commander just smiled, saying, "Carry on". That was probably the most fun time I've ever had. My roommate and I were expecting 10 minutes to shower after being soaked with mud in Sea Trials, and we about frickin' died when we only had 5. Muddy clothes were flying everywhere as we tried to shower and change. Ah, what memories. If I don't get in, I definitely won't forget.

well since this is an EA post...I'm finally done with my application! I know you don't care, but I'm so glad it's over with. Now for the interview on thursday...

I just had my interview on Monday and it was, well, interesting...

Everything's Done! App sent in, interview done and thank u note sent, I am soooo relieved-49 days till results come!

Sounds like my interview. :)

I haven't been contacted by any school regarding AROTC; however, AROTC sent me some info regarding the interview I have to take. I've contacted the AROTC unit at the University of Georgia and I'll be doing my interview there a little later on in the year. Most schools that I'm applying to either have Army on their campus or through a cross-town school.

Indoc was definetly the most fun I had there--sea trials a little less so. :)

ugh still haven't been contacted by gtown!! unless my mom just missed the call, i dunno

i know they got my part I. should i contact them? but i don't have their number, just their name

My interview was a joke. In fact, it can't even accurately be called an interview. The woman showed up 30 minutes late (I was about to leave), first of all. She then asked me why I liked Georgetown, and what other schools I was applying to. Then she told me to ask whatever questions I wanted. And that was that. It was really pretty stupid. I expected more, but whatever... I'm not going to let her reflect on GT as a whole.

babybird, contact them as soon as you can!

202-687-3600.

Call them. They can verify your PI.

Let the countdown begin! :D

48 days...

OI! I'm scared.

Just sent in my app Express Mail--it'll be there tomorrow before noon!

Unfortunatley, true to my style, I forgot to include the SSR and teacher rec. with the app! I'll have to send that out tomorrow separately and take another $14 hit. Ugh.

I had my teacher send in the rec. separately, and my counselor did the SSR and sent it in...the sheet told teacher to send it in separately, so I gave them an envelope and let them do their work...

Yeah, I always thought the SSR and the TR had to be sent by the teachers..?

Hey, is December 15 the day that everyone will know by? Or will they send out letters on Dec. 15?

i read all the recommendations my teachers wrote for me, my counselor let me

scary last minute question: how do we get the financial aid form? when is that due by if I'm EA? i can't connect to financial aid on the gtown site
