Can someone explain what the Georgetown Faculty of Languages and Linguistics really is? How does this differ from a traditional language major? The GU web site calls the program unique but doesn't really explain what it is...

also, is it difficult to get into?

TIA

If you are going to major in a language, comparative literature, or linguistics, you apply directly to the FLL, which is a division of the college. It's one of the best language programs in the country. It is pretty difficult to get into, since it is a lot smaller than any of the other schools, but I don't think it's too much more selective than the other schools.

A plus to being in the FLL is that FLL students are the only students outside of the business school that can major or minor in business. You also have to study abroad, and get special consideration for programs.

By the way, I'm a Spanish major in the FLL.

Thank you.

Are FLL students able to change their majors easily?
