Hello!
I’m applying to transfer to Georgetown University for Fall 2018, and I was wondering if someone could let me know how good they think my chances are of getting in. Also if anyone who successfully transferred to Georgetown could give me advice that would be wonderful! I’ve visited a friend who goes there twice in the past two months and I fell in love with the school and can’t imagine going anywhere else.
I’m currently a freshman at UNLV in the honors college (got accepted into Berkeley but couldn’t attend due to financial difficulties last year). Current college GPA is a 4.0. High school GPA was a 4.0 unweighted and 4.8 weighted (valedictorian). ACT score is a 30, but I’m retaking it in February. In high school I was the varsity dance team captain, Model UN founder/president, IB council treasurer, and Key Club Lt. Governor. I think my biggest weakness is my IB scores (not even worth mentioning honestly). I’m currently on my college’s dance team, and I have 2 jobs (not doing many ECs :/). I’m applying to transfer into the McDonough School of Business!
Please let me know if you have any suggestions or advice! Georgetown is my dream school and the only school I’m applying to other than USC.
How are you paying for it?
Working 2 jobs and saving up. My parents see how much I want to transfer, and they’re willing to contribute as well. And I’ll take out loans if needed.
I am also applying to Georgetown as a transfer student! I applied to the McDonough School of Business for accounting/finance. Hopefully we both get some good news in the near future!
I am also applying to McDonough School of Business for accounting and finance. I am an international student at USM, Mississippi. When they send out the admission decision?
Decisions will be sent out by Jun 1st according to the website!
Did you guys get alumni interviews? I hadn’t received an email so I called the admissions office, and apparently I just don’t get an interview. I’m kinda concerned because I know they try to interview as many applicants as possible and there are a ton of Georgetown alum in my city
I just did my interview last week, but I live in the DC area which probably made it very convenient. I really wouldn’t sweat it though. It seems theres no rhyme or reason to who gets an interview and your background looks very strong. So no need to worry I’d say!
I did my interview as well (I’m in DC area) but I’m transferring from a community college and my GPA is not even close to yours… my chances of getting in are lower but I thought I’d try my best anyways. Letters should be sent on or before June 1st. Please comment when you receive yours! I’m pretty nervous.
@brelove2 I’m super nervous as well! There’s another thread that’s more active than this one, let me send the link
