is it true that if you want to switch schools, you have to basically reapply to college?

i definitely want to apply to georgetown university. and i think i'm interested in going for the school of foreign service. but i feel like it's binding if i decide that i don't like that after all, and applying to georgetown college gives you more flexibility. so my question is: if you apply to the SFS and want to switch to the college, is that possible?

Yes, but it does involve an application and transfer process. Georgetown’s different schools aren’t just majors; they’re different colleges within the larger university.

it’s not that hard to transfer, except to SFS. i wasn’t sure which one to apply to either so i chose the college. and i might transfer to SFS or MSB if i feel i want a less liberal-artsy education.

It’s an internal transfer, so, yes, there is a risk of being denied the opportunity to leave one school and go to the others, but I believe that if you are in good standing with a good (ie 3.0+) GPA, you should be able to transfer into the College from SFS, from what little anecdotal evidence I’ve heard.
