Georgetown Summer College: Find a better one

Georgetown’s summer program is a disorganized mess. They have all sorts of 20-year-old kids enforcing rules and policies without really knowing what the rules are or who is in charge.

My daughter is signed up for both sessions, but they are kicking her out of the dorms for the weekend between. That is annoying, but we could have planned for it if they hadn’t told us in May that she could keep her room for the weekend since she needed to start classes again on Monday.

9am on Friday morning I find out they are making her move all her stuff to some classroom and run around campus doing check-out things while she should be studying for her final exam that was happening at 1:00. THEN they made her move it all again to the student center – basically, hours and hours of hassle and phone calls and everyone giving her and us different information all morning, completely preventing her from studying for her exam.

There are other programs that are better run than this. Can you imagine Duke, for example, being such a mess? No, because Duke is run competently. Georgetown is not.

Plus the dorms are infested with rats.
