Georgetown University

Hi, I was just wondering what you might think my chances would be of getting into my first choice school, Georgetown University.

I’m a junior in high school and homeschooled. Last summer I took a placement test at my local community college and placed into the honors program there. I just finished my first class (English 101 Honors) with a 4.0 GPA and I am enrolled for more classes next semester. I’m involved in sports (I play soccer and basketball) and I have also gone on several mission trips. I speak fluent Spanish and am also learning French. I haven’t taken my SAT’s yet but I am planning to do so in the fall. Is it too early to tell whether or not I have good chances of getting in since I haven’t taken the SAT’s yet? What could help me in the admissions process, especially since I’m homeschooled? Thanks!

I forgot to mention that I’m also involved in music.

I suggest you contact GU admission directly, and they should be able to give you more insight about your situation.

Your extracurriculars are solid, but could be better. As they are now, they won’t move the needle either way.

Your grades seem to be fine, but homeschooled students are always difficult to evaluate.

It’s difficult to chance you until you’ve got your first SAT scores. I’d suggest posting again after you’ve taken the test (which you should do in March, if possible-a lot of juniors already have one set of scores) and received your results.
