Thanks for the info. You mean he was previously committed to a LAC? May I know what region you are in?

do u know what gtown school they applied into

I donā€™t know what school but I would guess Liberal Arts given prior commit to a LAC. Student is from a top public high school in a NYC suburb.

Got it. Do you know whether the student was placed on the extended waitlist and got off or was never placed on the extended waitlist?

same question^^?

I donā€™t know the answer to that question. Sorry.

A student from the local public high school in my town (in CT) was accepted off the waitlist over the weekend. I donā€™t have any other details or specifics.

Thatā€™s wonderful! Thanks for the info.

Hello. Iā€™ve been following a few waitlist threads on CC since my D is on a couple and wanted to update. She was contacted earlier this week from GT via email first then phone convo the next day and was offered a spot for class of 26. She was on the extended WL for 2-3 days before they reached out to her. We are from SoCal.

Thank you for the update

And congratulations to you and your daughter

Good luck to you - I mean that.

Congrats!! Did your daughter send in an additional/2nd LOCI?

She did not but from the convo she had with the person at GT, people are sending them. My understanding is there are a handful of spots open and they are reviewing students on the extended list.

Our situation similarly to Gabamamaā€™s. Son placed on extended WL on 5-13; received email on 5-17 saying to expect a call from his AO to call to discuss his status on the WL. Call came about 2 hours later, and he was offered a spot in the incoming class (COL) which he immediately accepted. His portal was updated with the official offer of admission on 5-19.

Throughout the entire process, he stayed in touch with his AO. He submitted a LOCI when he was first placed on the WL, provided another update about a month later with a few new awards, and followed up with another email to AO when placed on the extended WL, so he definitely kept showing interest throughout the WL process.

He knows he landed a unicorn (especially with 0% WL movement in the COL last year) and is thrilled beyond words. Best of luck to everyone still stuck in limbo. Itā€™s a miserable and anxiety-inducing situation, no doubt about it.

Congratulations to your son!

Sounds like they arenā€™t opposed to students sending them updates and extra LOCIs. For us, we treated it like a soft rejection and tried to forget about the schools she was WLā€™d. I would encourage the students to follow your sonā€™s advice and get in touch with their AOā€™s. It canā€™t hurt.

Thanks for sharing these details. Did the AO ever reply back to emails? I reached out to the AO, sent LOCIs at different stages through the portal and also sent by email to the AO but never heard back from the AO to acknowledge receipt of the email. So wondering if that is not a good sign.

Yes, AO replied to every email (and not with a terse, form-reply). My son met her when she was at his high school for an information session and kept up the connection through the entire process. Applied RD in January.

Thanks much.
