<p>Hi I’m not a student but my brother is a junior and I can tell you a few things about Georgetown that I’ve heard from him:
<p>any current students want to add some input?</p>
<p>I am a current student at Georgetown (I’m a sophomore/a transfer student), and I would be happy to answer your questions!</p>

<li><p>Quality of Academics - I would have to give Georgetown at least an 8, maybe even a 9. The academics here a consistently great. At my old school, I was really only impressed by one professor during my year there. At Georgetown, however, I have had multiple professors each semester that have wowed me with the sheer volume of knowledge they possess.</p></li>
<li><p>Manageability of courseload (10 being least stressful) - It’s hard to give a number because different schools and majors have different requirements. I will say that the courses here seem to be, on average, a little more difficult than those at my old school (which weren’t particularly challenging).</p></li>
<li><p>Social life - It’s also hard to put a number on this one because this is very individual, but I do agree with what the previous poster said. There are a lot of extremely wealthy students here (the majority of students come from families that can pay the full $60,000+ per year), and if you’re a student who is receiving a significant amount of financial aid (such as myself), you might not be able to join your friends when they jet off to London or Tokyo for spring break. At that same time, there are tons of extracurricular activities an student organizations you can get involved in that give you chance to make friends and meet people from all over the country and the world.</p></li>
<li><p>Extracurricular opportunities and involvement - I kind of touched on this in 3., but I will say that you everyone can find something to get involved in. There are easily over 100 clubs and organizations ranging from student government to dance groups to volunteer organizations to debate societies to - well, I think you get the picture!</p></li>
<li><p>Career services (how easy or difficult to obtain a quality job or internship with 10 being easy) - I won’t rate the ease of getting a job or internship (because that depends a lot on you as an applicant, what field your trying to go into, etc.), but I will say that the student career center here is outstanding. You can go in and see an advisor pretty much any day of the week, they put on a bunch of different workshops that can help you with writing your r</p></li>

<li>Quality of Academics- I’m going to give it an 8 seeing as I have barely experienced the higher level more intense courses which is probably where Gtown really shines, but my proseminar was amazing </li>
<li>Manageability of courseload (10 being least stressful)- I’m giving it a 5, again my classes are nowhere near as hard as they will get I’m assuming, but I am challenged and have a pretty large amount of work to do, but I have a lot of time also. Time management is key to success; do not be that person sitting in the library from 8to 8 because they decided not to write their 15 page paper and do their 60 pages of spanish homework </li>
<li>Social life- Like the previous poster said you will probably get annoyed at some point with the incredibly rich people around you blowing huge stacks of money like it is nothing, but their are always parties on the weekends and as long as you are involved in activities, you will have friends to hang out with. Also, for the frat scene, APO (the only frat recognized by Georgetown) and DPE (the foreign service frat) are also good places to go if you are into that sort of thing, although no frat at Gtown is a truly intense frat like down South or at Howard. There remains the city also, where you can do pretty much anything. Put it as a 9</li>
<li>Extracurricular opportunities and involvement: 10. There are hundreds of things you can do on campus and you will find something, from the IRC to dancing to the investment clubs on campus. Just know that at the beginning of the year, competition for places in clubs and teams will be incredibly intense</li>
<li>Career services (how easy or difficult to obtain a quality job or internship with 10 being easy)- There’s always stuff to do on the Hill, so its pretty easy to get basic internships, after that it depends on your skill level although the Career Center from what I have heard is really good</li>
<li>Competitiveness of classmates (10 being cutthroat)-It’s a 7 I’d say, it really depends on the class, no one is sabotaging each other but curves to get A’s can be incredibly high (96+) with only 10% allowed to get A’s in some cases</li>
<li>How much you like Georgetown- I love it, my only wish is that they would put water fountains on every floor in dorms as my dorm does not have a single water fountain in it which is annoying, and that there was cheaper food nearby.</li>
