Has anyone from GA who is applying for the class of 2012 heard back from the senators yet about an interview??

Turbotw -- I would suggest you call the offices of both senators and inquire about when thier interviews will be held. That way you can assure yourself that everything is on track with your file. It also keeps you from scheduling something for that day.

Sorry, WI here....

The interviews for both Chambliss and Isakson are on the 2nd and 3rd of November, at their Atlanta offices. I don't remember which is has which day. Exact times haven't been sent out. I havn't got anything from them either, I found this out by talking with the staffer. Hope to meet you there Turbotw.

I hope to meet you too, bud.

I wonder how many of the candidates who make it past the initial screening and get to the interview actually end up getting a nomination.

So the day came and went...did you get to interview, Turbo? Did you see one or both? My son saw Isakson, while his friend was invited by Chambliss. My s thought it went very well.

Tyler, good luck on getting nomination! I have an interview with congressman nomination review board in Dec.....

mom3boys:

Yes! The day has come and gone! I interviewed with both Senator Isakson and Chambliss today. I feel confident about the interviews! I really did my best and it was a good time. There were even some laughs towards the end of the Chambliss interview (they asked me if I had a girlfriend and I told them no, but I had been flirting with alot of girls and they said well, hey! we had a girl today interview for west point and she was pretty cute! haha)

How did your son feel he did?

Am impressed you were invited to both! I think they both saw 30 candidates, from a pool of 200, so congrats! My son felt like it could not have gone any better than it did. He felt great, they had good rapport, and he wasn't nervous (he practiced with a mock panel the night before for 2 hours!). He got the distinct impression that they would only consider each candidate for one academy list...did you think that, too? Which congressman will you interview with, and when is that? My son will see Linder next Saturday. He flies back from WP on the 6 AM flight (after staying up all night, no doubt!), so he's hoping for a late afternoon interview. His staffer assured us she'd schedule as late as possible due to the circumstance. What part of Georgia do you call home?

Which academy are you hoping for? Maybe you and my son will end up together and I can meet your parents at a parent meeting! Good luck to you!

Mom

I, too, got the impression that they really only look at candidates for one academy. I am hoping for West Point.

I am GA District 03 (Lynn Westmoreland) which is the Peachree City/Newnan area although I actually live in Tyrone which is a small town just north of Peachtree City. The apps for Westmoreland weren't due until 1 Nov so they haven't even sent letters out yet about the interviews. Great luck to your son and his congressional interview! That would be great to me a classmate of his at WP and I'm sure my parents would love to meet you at the parents club!

Congressman Westmoreland - My son received an interview for December 8th. His letter came earlier this week.

Turbo-Did you hear from Isakson or Chambliss yet? My s got a call on Wednesday from Nancy that he had the nom and the letter came today. Linder will decide in a few weeks. His friend, who interviewed for Chambliss, called the office to notify of the LOA and was told that he had the nom and would be getting a letter shortly.
Best of luck to you!!

I received a letter Friday from Isakson's office saying that I was not chosen for a nomination from his office. I'm hoping to get a different letter from Chambliss! =)

Chambliss said his letter would not go out for another few weeks. My friend called to tell them about her son's LOA and they went ahead and told her he had the nom, but the letters wouldn't go out for a few weeks. Best of luck to you! Is Westmoreland seeing many candidates? Linder had a TON, so it will be a trick to get a nom there. In the past he'd put candidates up for more than one academy, but not this year. You had to declare one top choice (he'd consider two if one was MMA).

Turbotw: The admissions process can be an emotional rollercoaster ride - hang in there.

Turbotw: the rumor mill here in GA is that the senators communicate with each other's office. The field was huge this year, and perhaps they are not duplicating the noms. If this is the case it would make sense to get the no from Isakson prior to the yes from Chambliss.

Turbo,

Hang in there! It's still early.

Oh I'm hanging in there, =) . Thanks for the positive support you guys, it makes a world of difference.

Westmoreland is one of the tougher places in GA to get a nomination-Like your sons district, they only are considering candidates for one unless MMA (or so it seems). I was only awarded an interview for West Point while my bud from school has one for AFA and MMA.

I'm hoping they communicated with each other...Do you know why Chambliss is holding off sending the letters for another few weeks? Did they say which week in particular they would be sending them out?

Turbotw: I went back and re-read the email from my friend (she copied me on what they told her) and it states that the letter will be mailed "next week" (which is this week now). So maybe you will get some great Thanksgiving news!! I will let you know PM when friend's s gets letter. It's times like this that would be better to live in the sticks, where the competition is not so stiff! Or else, in a sparsely populated state. I sure hope this works out for you, as you seem like a great candidate!
Best wishes!!! --mom

I got a letter last Friday from Isakson telling me I hadn't received a nom from them. However, I just got a letter today from Chambliss giving me one. So, you guys should be getting your letters soon.
