@Xboxgamergirl - what is DL?
DL is a Georgia tech class that students are allowed to take after the completion of Calculus AB/BC. It stands for Georgia Tech Distance learning. Students learn linear algebra and multivariable calculus.
@Xboxgamergirl I think that DL gives you a competitive edge because it is taught by tech but I don’t think not taking that class is a make it or break it deal. I don’t think its weighted as much as you think. Remember, they’re holistically reviewing applicants.
Does anyone know when GA tech EA decisions are coming out?
January 9.
@jym626 Thanks
Thanks @Xboxgamergirl ! I was really puzzled!
Any body received an email about scholarship and FA today?
@Xboxgamergirl My son is currently taking GaTech DL Calculus. Other than being encouraged to apply for undergraduate admission, we haven’t heard that only in-state DL students will be accepted. Their website states: The Distance Learning admission process is selective and a prospective student should have a profile like students in the top quarter of our freshman class to be competitive. So, it makes sense that students accepted to DL at GaTech would fare well due to their strong academic resumes. No need to stress about it now. Keep your head up and be confident in your academic achievements. My son’s not a writer, he’s better with numbers :), but he did his best with his essay and feels confident. Now we wait… just like all the other 15 thousand early applicants! Good Luck to everyone! #onemonthtogo
@sammyjackson did you receive an email today? Nothing here.
Does anyone know whether gatech is continuing its policy of considering only ACT english, maths, and writing as it did last year? I can’t quite find it on their site this year, and their university helpline agents are offering varying answers.
@MexitalianMom, yes yesterday afternoon, saying that I need to submit 2 forms for scholarship and fa in Jan.
Yes, there was email from Tech about a month ago about FA (we did fill that out) and also yesterday about filing out CCS profile and FAFSA in January.
@sunbeams I never received an email at all…should I be worried? I looked online and their priority FA deadline is mid feb for everything
I never received an email either…
@sammyjackson - Are you an in-state applicant?
The financial aid was mentioned in a GT newsletter sent out in November 11 or 17th. It was just like an email talking about “what’s going on at tech and what should be your next step”
Yes, received email back in Nov regarding CSS and FA. Thx @Xboxgamergirl for clearing that up.
I did not receive any e-mail either… ~X(
Please chance me at:

Also, I will chance back if you leave a link in the post.
Thanks!
@ismitah I don’t think you need to worry about it. Like @Xboxgamergirl mentioned it was through “What’s the next step” (Tech newsletter in November) and we went ahead and apply for FA through that link. Yesterday we received the email, I am pasting it below:
We have received your 2016-2017 Georgia Tech Application for Scholarships and Financial Aid. Completing this form is an important step in applying for aid at Georgia Tech.
Based on the kind(s) of financial aid you are applying for, you will also need to complete the 2016-2017 CSS PROFILE and the 2016-2017 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) when it becomes available in January
Bottom line is, I don’t think it has anything to do regarding the chances of getting accepted.
@ismitah
priority financial aid application deadline is February 15, 2016.
We all have plenty of time after 1/9!
