***Georgia Tech Class of 2020 EA Applicant Thread***

Son has been accepted so far in UMich, University of Colorado/Boulder, Notre Dame, SMU, TCU and Creighton. No rejections or deferrals YET.

Actually i know someone who didnt apply but got a similar letter. It just didnt say "hope to see you on campus in 2016 " tho

Feel bad :frowning: Got deferred from U Mich. Looking forward to Tech’s decision. :-SS

@mom2ljr @ShouldBeWorking Congrats!! I am sure they will get in GaTech. Even if not, your boys already have great schools to attend. My S got deferred yesterday from UMichigan so we are now worried about tech! We are hoping being in state will help the chances of getting in. Are you both oos or in state?

I got into MIT :open_mouth:

@sunbeams We are oos. Good luck!

Chance me maybe? I struggled with standardized testing and worked hard for what I have now-- how much will they affect my chances? I applied for Mechanical Engineering,thanks!
Basic Stats: (ACT Superscore)

Great rec letter, good essay, all rounded EC’s including sports, music, STEM, national/state/regional awards, and even received a patent a few years ago.

@fprosk wow! Congrats! Is that where you are going or still waiting to hear from Ga Tech? Are you still going to apply RD to the rest of the schools in your list?

@fmllax You will get in if you are in-state. If OOS, your ECs may keep you from getting deferred, but I’m confident in your eventual acceptance no matter how early results turn out. :).

Chance me guys? Applied for Engineering Undecided. I’m OoS + hispanic.

SAT Scores
-Highest Individual == 2030
-Highest Superscore == 2040

Bunch of awards and extracurriculars. Notably worked with Valve Software for an item in one of their games (TF2).

@scoottehbesht Your ECs warrant respect, and the upward trend will work towards your favour - not to mention the fact that you’re Hispanic. With that said, a 2040 is average for Gatech, and you’re OOS so that’s disadvantageous. All things considered, I’d say 65/35% acceptance/rejection chances. This is very subjective, and moreover, I don’t know how your essays or recs are. Don’t hold me to this lol :’)

Can anyone who has toured tell me (us) how it is? I really like the school from an academic standpoint, but I never thought of Atlanta as an enticing college town.

Atlanta is one of the nicest cities in the South by far. For one, it’s beginning to become more and more like Silicon Valley, in the sense that’s it’s a tech hub. As far as your typical college town thing goes, yeah not really that college-y but there are frats and stuff if you want that experience. But it’s totally laden with opportunities for your career and to fun like with a bunch of attractions nearby, like the aquarium or Coca Cola world etc. there’s also the Atlanta Falcons stadium nearby which should be fun. @infiniteCircle

@Fireball99 thanks for the info. I like that you mentioned the Silicon-Valley-like aspect because that is a concern of mine as a intended CS major.

@sunbeams We are in Colorado.

@sunbeams GT is actually my second choice right now so I’m definitely still waiting to hear back. I’m hoping to visit soon and who knows, I could like it better than MIT! It does have a school spirit component that MIT doesn’t and I absolutely love sports. I’m gonna fill out the rest of my RD decisions too

@fprosk You will get in wherever you apply to! A visit is definitely important to find the right fit. Good luck!

Does anyone have the breakdown of how many get accepted/deferred/ reected in EA?

Wait till after Jan 9
