***Georgia Tech Class of 2020 EA Applicant Thread***

@NoEffort , definitely! I have so many friends from last year who were top 50 and made it! They had sat scores above 2000

@Xboxgamergirl Thank you! But I am OOS so it might be a little bit harder.

@glasshours It doesn’t even have to be AP, as long as it’s some form of calculus. You’re fine!

@NoEffort - my friends were from NC.
@Hermit9 - nice catch, I totally forgot that the was a such thing as “non AP” calc!! Keep on thinking that calc somehow is only in the AP form.

@Xboxgamergirl actually, on the freshman profile, it says 94% have taken AP Calc or its equivalent in HS, so…

@Fireball99 , yup! Like i implied, I didn’t catch that “equivalent” part!! For equivalence, I was just thinking something like IB Math HL. Regular calc didn’t pop in my mind. I’ll read more carefully next time!!

But, if you are correcting me on the percentile number then I just wanna say that I used the number that was posted by someone else earlier on this thread.

@Fireball99 , or unless you are saying that regular calc is not the equivalent of AP calc, then I would just like to say that thats a true point as well. If that’s the case, go talk to the one who made that post lol.

I’m just a little confused on what your trying to say/point out. /:slight_smile:

But I think we all get the point, and honestly bringing the topic back is just confusing other people more (like me lol). Its too late to worry over a math course at this point. But I appreciate the help/correction (I still have no idea of what you were trying to point out) :-S

Man, I feel like a Steve Harvey now. [-(

Anyone’s Buzzport locked?
I saw a thread on CC a while ago which said that Buzzports would get locked around Dec. 26th…

@CHCollege123 , nope! Works fine for me! Maybe they will lock it in the evening?? I thought they were closed for the holidays! My guess is that they’ll do it on Jan 8, since thats when they open up.

We’ll see…

I think @Fireball99 was pointing out that 94% of incoming freshmen had already taken some form of AP calc. We were talking about the percentage of seniors accepted to Tech early that /had already taken some form of advanced calc.

But yeah, like @Xboxgamergirl pointed out, there’s no point in stressing over this because all our apps are already in. :stuck_out_tongue:

It still says “file under review” in my portal, but I heard something about that being changed to “decision made” sometime around the 26th, too. Never heard anything about them actually locking the portals, though.

Sorry for the confusion, I was saying that reg calc wasn’t an equivalent of AP Calc.

@Fireball99 , haha-you’re absolutely fine!!! I agree with you on that.

Okay, so got off the phone with my counselor. He said that they plan on locking it within the next few days, but they might decide to stick with last years process. Last year, they closed buzzport for all students and instead sent out a separate link to the emails of all the applicants which allowed applicants to view decisions. He said that they still have some applications that they are considering and will get back to finishing last minute decisions when break ends (jan 8)

@Xboxgamergirl Thanks for the info! We can always count on you and @Hermit9

Could anyone confirm whether GaTech is need-blind for domestic applicants?

@Samar1998 , Georgia tech does NOT consider ability to pay tuition and rank. Major/Minor does play a minimal role.

So, I went onto Georgia Tech’s decisions website today, and I clicked on “Click here to see your admission decision” just for fun :stuck_out_tongue:

… the website showed my name and then it also stated “Admission decisions are available via this site until: Tue, December 15, 2015 12:00:00 EST. Please check buzzport.gatech.edu for your admission decision.”

I guess our decisions will come out on Buzzport rather than on MyDecision.

@ifizzle321 , yeah I think that too. They could send an internal link within buzzport to our emails. I heard the emails themselves have the decisions-wonder if that’s true.

But we will see in 2 weeks!!! Good luck everyone!!

I do have a question-what percentage of students are state schools required to accept? Is it 80 or 60%?

@Xboxgamergirl It should be somewhere around 60%
