For anyone who was admitted, when you click on the “confirm intent to enroll” button on buzz port, does it also show you an error? Just freaking out thx
@Fireball99 Yes!
@Mom2Move - My D was accepted. OOS, 33 ACT (34 superscored) 4.0 W, 4.3 UW, ton of ECs and leadership, 6 APs in all (school only offers 9 total). We spoke with the local admissions counselor at a school fair in Philadelphia and visited the campus last spring.
Is there any way to find out how many kids were accepted from the NY/NJ/PA area?

I intend to submit my SAT II for RD (790M 750 Physics and I am retaking the this month). I also think I may retake the ACT in February if it is ok. I will ask my EC first.
If my application was incomplete, will it say in my decision, or do I need to contact them to see? They may not have received my fee waiver
Ouch @Nolesemigd - so sorry to hear that! You look like such a good candidate. I don’t have any answers for you - just wanted to wish you all the best in RD. At least you’re still in the game!
And great job doing debate, even if you didn’t advance.

Many of my Son’s friends used College Application Coaches, we did not. For those of you who used one, I’m just curious, how did it work out for you?
Hey when do admission packets typically show up at our houses? Also what’s in them, I’m curious?
@MexitalianMom I got in and I used one, but only for my Common App essays
You’re looking at a DIYer. Batting 4/5 right now. Dang it.
Seriously, we went to visit one down here, and besides costing $150 an hour, this person knew absolutely nothing about Florida homeschooling laws which made me nervous. Think this individual is more accustomed to the private school set. I had the impression that certain wealthy parents literally hand over the entire file and say “get us into an Ivy or elite.”
Of course they wouldn’t make any guarantees. Surprise surprise.
ETA: I’m sure there are excellent college coaches out there. We just didn’t find one.
I got deferred from CS with a 35ACT/4.0 UW GPA, OOS. I’m crossing my fingers for the regular decision round, but I was also hoping for some financial aid, as my family can’t easily afford the full sticker price. I’m afraid that a deferral means I’m out of luck in that regard. Anyone know for sure?
@MexitalianMom - congrats! @SouthFloridaMom9 - I am very sorry. I know the disappointment is felt by you as well.
College Coaches – My D did not use one. The only school to which she was not accepted is Stanford (not sure who gets into Stanford anyway)
@james1998iq I think BME is just exceptionally competitive. We know BME students who have had trouble getting co-ops and internships which is usually unheard of at GT. Maybe they have taken too many BME the past few years and they want to be sure they can give everyone a high quality experience?
@MexitalianMom Funny you should ask about consultants.
Our S did NOT use one, as I felt he should represent himself – and not a consultant – to the AdComms. MANY of his friends DID use one, including a VERY similar-stat friend, who was deferred at the two target schools they had in common. At this stage, S has been accepted into every EA program to which he applied (7/7), including GTech, Michigan and Notre Dame.
Could it be that the committees are starting to suss out “cookie cutter” candidates, while those students who present authenticity with clear passions are able to stand out from the herd?
I’ve honestly never understood why people think they need college consultants. My essays were not polished and had mistakes, and I’m sure I could have listed my extracurriculars in a more formulaic way. However, I still managed to get accepted to Georgia tech along with several other selective schools. I think the unpolished nature of an application adds a sense of humanity and youth, which college applications should have. you either have the qualifications or you don’t. Just my thoughts though
Has anyone been contacted about PSP?
That’s exactly what I think can happen if you’re not careful.
Anyone know the EA acceptance rate this year?
@pokemon1 30% overall, 45% IS, 28% OOS.

@PhilaSkiMom, @ShouldBeWorking & @southeastkid Congrats to you all!! I agree wholeheartedly! They don’t campuses full of cookie cutter applicants. My S stats were very good, but not the best. He’s all about Science & Math, no ELA or SS. EC were strong in Athletics, Church Youth group activities & community service. A couple of awards and NHS. He chose the “Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story.” It was risky but it was his choice, and he nailed it! He wrote about his faith, his destiny and his summer mission trip to Mexico. I know any Coach would have thrown red flags. But he led with his heart and it paid off.
