Im an international applicant from canada. Asian female

Act 32, superscore 33
Applied for civil engineering

Could u post ur stats for those of u who got in? Congrats again!

What were ur scores

@iamnewtothis hey congrats! Would u mind sharing your act/sat scores? Im also international female, where are you from? What about race

@iamsaucy congrats to u as well!!! Would you mind telling us your act or sat score?

accepted to computers w/ top10% rank and 35 act

@MayiqueCynthia I hope this helps

SAT: 2060 (super scored)
GPA UW: private school (9-11): 3.7 | homeschool (12) 4.0
Senior Courses: AP Lit, AP Stats, AP Calc, AP Env Science, World History, (other electives)
Awards: several national technology awards then minor music ones

My common app essay was about my life story and how my passion for CS has made me overcome adversity.
Why GT was pretty bad… I suck at those essays.
My motto was like “blah blah let them remember what you have done not what you overcome” (super cheesy).
For the unbounded future I wrote a timeline of all the achievements and contributions I hope to make to the world through technology. Basically like “year: -what happens that year-”.

My EC’s are probably my strongest point
Interned at AOL, girls who code, flew out to Cali to participate in TechCrunch, founded a hackathon, going to summit in Cali for my work in technology, speaking at UN event, mentored and tutored in CS, mentored at hackathons, started club at Columbia, head of lots of school clubs , and work for a group as a graphic designer. I’m also a passionate musician and singer, and I’m a varsity lacrosse player.

I got a rec from my CS teacher (that probably showed my passion for CS).
I’m mixed (half black/half Asian), I’m from New York, and I’m online schooled/homeschooled. So I probably look great for diversity. I’m also a female in STEM, that 100% helped.

But I included all of this because GT emphasized the “holistic process” and those of you who keep asking for scores don’t understand that scores/grades are one piece of a huge puzzle. I may be way more under qualified than all of you, but there’s way more than numbers…

I hope you guys all remember that! If we keep comparing ourselves to each other by numbers, we begin to identify ourselves with those numbers. We’re all a lot more than that.

Congrats to those accepted! For those rejected, you’ve heard it a million times over so I won’t say the annoying “you’ll be happy wherever”. I do wish you all luck with your remaining decisions!

Sorry this post is HUGE!

Thanks @MayiqueCynthia!!

My SAT was 2270 (2360 superscore) and my ACT was 35. My UW GPA was 3.98 and W GPA was 4.46. I think being a female STEM (esp. in engineering) really helps out at GA Tech because the school has extremely low diversity.

Was unable to check all day - just found out I was accepted to GT to the CoE!

Congrats to all of the people who got in! I have met a few alumni from Georgia Tech and have found them to be very kind and worldly. I am not too bummed by this rejection, but I am now more concerned about my chances at the schools that I am still waiting to hear back from.
