@Heisowp1 Got that email at 5pm EST, the anxiety is hitting!
@skywalker11 I also applied for CS and I’m also a girl. Hopefully we both get positive decisions on Saturday!

CS applicant #3 here. Just out of curiosity, which second major did y’all choose? I went with computer engineering, and I’m guessing that most other CS applicants did the same.
Are all of you getting a password expiration notice? What will happen if the password expiration deadline passes and you still haven’t changed your password? Will you not be able to log in? THanks
Just out of curiosity, what did you put as your personal motto on the application essays?
What time on the 12th are decisions coming out?
12:00pm EST
On Saturday when we receive admission decision, if accepted, will we also receive financial package with GT scholarship and grant offer?
Are some majors at georgiatech more difficult to get into?
@Jado17 You ask a relevant question. There are a couple of ways to look at it.
Certainly there have been CC participants that have heard GT admissions councilors claim that majors are not considered and that one can change their major the day after they are admitted. The consensus seems to be that GT does not consider major.
However, I have not been able to find one piece of official written martial that says for the 2016 admissions cycle, GT will not be considering major in admissions. If somebody has seen such a claim please post a link.
A notable difference can be found between this document:
http://admission.gatech.edu/images/pdf/B14C3103_FreshmanClassProfile_829.pdf
and this document:
http://admission.gatech.edu/images/pdf/2015_freshman_profile_web.pdf
At the bottom of the 2013 document, there is the specific claim that major is not considered in admissions. There is no such claim in the 2015 document. To be fair, there is no “Not Considered” section at all on the 2015 document and major is not among the “Consider Factors”. This is in contrast to, say, UT Austin which explicitly states that major is considered.
Another way to look at it is by the numbers. It is certainly possible that CC participants do not represent a uniform sample of the applicant pool but let’s assume they do. Looking at the posts to CC GT threads where the poster indicated their intended major, I would estimate that 1 in 3 to 1 in 4 posters is a CS major. It seems unrealistic that a quarter to a third of admitted students are in one major. I don’t see how GT could accommodate these numbers. Look at these data:
http://factbook.gatech.edu/quick-facts/admissions-enrollment/
There were about 3000 enrolled freshman in 2015 and about 1800 total CoC majors. Let’s assume 450 of them are freshman so about 1 in 6 freshman are in CS, well less than 1/4.
In summary, though the conventional wisdom is that GT does not consider major, for the 2016 admissions round I have not seen any written material that claims GT does not consider major. Also comparing the proportion of people on CC that intend to major in CS to the number of enrolled freshman that are actually majoring in CS, it seems that major might be considered.
Thanks @epacsmis !
Less than 24 hours left :-SS
@skywalker11 @ThatGirlCoder I’m also CS and female. on the common app it asked for additional interest and I put Languages.
Does anyone’s buzzport application quick view say “no application to show?”
Yes but with a blurb saying it will be unavailable beginning at noon today due to decisions coming out at noon EST tomorrow.
Wow this thread is really silent, given that decision are out in less than 12 hours now xD
@asdfg123456 I wholly agree. Good luck to you! What colleges have you applied to?
Good luck, everyone!
do we have RD stats? EA stats came at around this time in the morning
Hello @Srijith97
It’s ok! Although a composite ACT score of 27 seems a little weak unless you have something really impressive in your application. I myself am Indian who studied in a British high school in Rio de Janeiro.
My composite score is 32 with 31 English 33 Maths 29 Reading and 31 Science
I applied for aerospace engineering and I also really want to study here!
Decisions come out today so don’t lose hope! And I wish all the best to you and everyone!
4.1 uc gpa, 3.83 uw. 8 aps/honors. 770 math 2. 32 ACT score (34 in math) out of state. Computer Science. Got into UIUC and Purdue. What are my chances at GTech. It seems like a great school! good luck to all in 7 hrs!!
