****Deferred Applicants Class of 2022 (2018 HS seniors)****

Deferred applicants thread.

Ok. So since I applied during EA, I took the SAT II Math level 2 exam, got an 800. Should I send that score to Georgia Tech, or just mention it in the 150 word supplement form thing?

I have a question, so senior year I took like 6 APs and I got a low B in Physics C because I was kind of overwhelmed by all the APs and college application and I have to sacrifice one of my classes to keep up the rest. Will that bring down my chance for acceptance after deferral?

are you applying for a physics based program like mechE?

Does anyone know the chances for OOS deferred?

does anyone know the chances for an in-state deferral

@18college1111 “Should I send that score to Georgia Tech, or just mention it in the 150 word supplement form thing?”

Both. If you wish to attend your need to keep engaged with the admissions process. Ignoring the supplement or putting in a feeble effort to fill it out will definitely result in a denial.

One reason to defer high stats kids is that admisions feel that you did not express adequate knowledge or interest in the school. Or your essays were poorly written. Some high stats kids rest on their laurels and their essays reflect a hurried thoughtless effort. This poor effort will cause the admissions officer to believe that you might have better options elsewhere.

The supplement is not just a simple list of new accomplishments or events. It’s an opportunity for an additional concise personal essay to express your knowledge of the program and why you want to attend the school. Be upbeat. Don’t beg.

@darkfire13 what major did you apply for?

What should go into the deferred supplement? Should it be informational and provide insight on the ECs I’m doing and what I’ve accomplished since October? Or should I use the space to write about why I want to attend Tech?

@nin12698

Read my last paragraph above #7.

Weave both new accomplishments and why you want to attend together. Be thoughtful. Have someone look it over. Take your time submit it a few days before the deadline.

I was just curious because I’m taking Physics Mechanics currently (Teachers one of hardest ones in school, counselor mentioend in rec) if getting a C first quarter but then getting a B second quarter would have a pretty big impact on my admissions, I applied for Computer Engineering, alternate major Comp Sci
