It really could have gone either way with her stats, so if I had to guess what pushed her in it was probably her ECs (esp research at one of the UC’s the summer of her junior year), her essays and her LOR (hard to really know about the LOR since we don’t see them, but she was close with the teachers and counselors who wrote them).

Really excited for her!
Congrats to all who got in and good luck to deferred students…

beyond proud of him. good luck to all of you and thanks for all the info on this forum!

@friedsoap CS is extremely competitive

It’s possible your former classmate sought a less competitive spot for a different major

In case anyone was wondering, I got deferred. Congrats to all admitted!

55%denied, 20% deferred, 20% admitted, 5% “other” (incomplete applications, etc). Admission rate 40% in Georgia, 14% outside.

I got deferred…35/36, 760 SAT Math/Chem; 4.0+ GPA; varsity sports, many leadership ECs and math related awards, but I am taking MultiVariable Calc/Linear Algebra and AP Physics C rather than a third Social Science class (when I called admissions they said this wouldn’t be a negative), but based upon what I’m seeing. I wonder if this was a negative on my app? Any thoughts?

@KWSoCal she wasn’t competing against the pool. Her application would be compared to applying students in her local CA region and school. They admit by region and have only so many X offers for each region.

If she is still interested, she needs to fill out the additional update form.

@epyf64 I don’t think that is it because GT loves advanced math. MANY kids got deferred or rejected with similar stats.
Also depends if OOS or in-state, major and other factors that are not in your control.

@jym626 What percentage received Arts and Sciences Pathway program?

My Son got accepted.
BioMedical Engineering / BioEngineering
SAT 1580 - ACT 35
GPA - 4.0 UW , 4.8 Weighted
Math 800, Physics 770
9 APs - All 5
National Merit Semifinalist
Tonns of ECs and extra caricular
Asian India Male from OOS

Got deferred with a 1420 Chemical Engineering OOS. Feeling confident for reg decision, Had very good first semester grades and started a some new projects. Any idea how many get accepted from being deferred?

Son was accepted for civil engineering! ACT 35, UW 4.0, 800 on Math II and chemistry. Strong ECs and recs. He tells me his essays are strong but I didn’t read them. In state. Very relieved - we were stressed!

Accepted for summer semester (June to August).

It said it is not a conditional offer but cannot be switched to fall semester.
Is there anyone also being admitted by it or anyone knowing sth about it?

I’m still kind Offer confusing. Is there any big difference?Is it a kind of preparatory courses?I applied Architecture, am I still major in Architecture?Does it mean I will take an extra semester before regular fall semester?

^ it’s just early enrollment. You would be a regular student just starting early. Nothing conditional or prelim. Go and take a light load of required courses for your major.

Accepted OOS for CS. SAT: 1580, ACT: 36, Math 2/Chemistry subject tests: 800. As for the discussion on advanced maths, I took Lin Alg, Multivariable, differential equations last year and am taking Partial Differential Equations this year.

Deferred CS
OOS Asian
1560 SAT, 800 SAT II Math level 2 and Physics, decent ECs, weak essays

@CBosfl - 1000 transfers accepted. Doesn’t break down further.

@jym626 Thanks! Do you know what percentage of EA applicants were offered Arts and Sciences Pathway Program?

@CBosfl Nope. That’s all I know.

Accepted! Applied Physics, might switch to business (I put that as second choice). Look through my profile for my stats, too lazy to copy and paste. TBH I considered GT as a school leaning more towards safety, but I got in, and then I saw that it was 14% acceptance rate and I was pretty shook.
