Georgia Tech Class of 2027 Official Thread

Agree with them trying to fill the abroad programs + in state being under enrolled. Daughter got off the waitlist on May 4th, accepted into FYSA in Oxford. She’s in-state and majoring in CS. She was originally planning to attend Purdue for CS. Although Purdue would have been a great choice, she will now be going to GT/Oxford in the fall. Best of luck to everyone else waiting.

Same question

What was their major?

Waiting…haven’t heard anything yet

There seems to be not much wait-list movement across many schools. No word on GTech Twitter either which they typically had mentioned where they update in the past wait-list chats.

There is a lot more waitlist movement than last year. But just not the ones we are waiting for. I have several friends who got off the Berkeley and UCLA waitlists.

I guess it depends on what you are looking at. None that I am looking at like CMU for example dont have much movement:-). Dont get they need 4000+ on wait-list if it is very small number getting off wait-list.

41 people got off the Georgia Tech waitlist last year and my guess is this year is even fewer. They are saying that the Atlanta campus is full for summer and fall which means they are only placing people in first year semester abroad.

In years past they have taken people off once a week. I know people came off April 28 and May 4 which means today may be another wave.

Agree, this year looks lower than last year. And was expecting around every Thursday to hear something from someone. Granted not everyone is on Reddit or CC but there is no messaging from GT either and I thought they were typically proactive at least from what was mentioned in last couple years wait-list chats

Yep, you guys guessed correctly. My daughter just got offered a spot in FYSA in France this afternoon, but we’re debating what to do.

Congratulations!

Are you in-state or oos? What is her major?

Thank you!! We’re very excited but she also loves the school she’s currently committed too haha so it’s a tough decision. Neuroscience in-state with 1510 SAT and about a 3.8 GPA. In our letter, it also said that the Atlanta campus was full.

Does this mean that if you declined the FYSA option and only applied for the Atlanta campus waitlist, your chances are near 0?

Hi GA tech parents or students, I have a question about the FASET. Does it matter if you register for later dates? Do they register for classes on the FASET day or later? Would the classes be full if we sign up for later date? We are going on vacation and won’t be back until mid July so cannot register for earlier dates. Also would online FASET or in person would be good?any disadvantages of doing it online?

If only FYSA is being offered currently it may lower chances if not interested. Though I don’t know if they are considering the checkbox checked to offer as it was mentioned earlier that it was offered without it. There could be some movement in Atlanta if people move out due to waitlist acceptances from other places but if their already over-enrolled for Atlanta then any movement will be nullified.

Yes they register for classes during FASET. They do hold seats back for each FASET so supposedly it doesn’t matter when you go.
