That’s interesting. Typically when they announce late May it’s because they are close to or over their enrollment goal.
@VirginiaBelle Do you have any predictions for this year’s waitlist? Slowly losing hope of getting off…
Father of twin boys who were both waitlisted - one for Mechanical Engineering and one for Business. Both of them just got emails (and a follow up phone call) informing they were accepted for the FYSA in Metz, France.
In state metro Atlanta public school, 8-9 APs, Eagle Scouts, GPA 92+
Congrats!!!
Congrats! Are they both going to accept the offer of admission from the waitlist?
Congrats!
Seems GT started instate wl decision first
Sounds like they are trying to fill up the abroad programs right now which means Atlanta may be full.
They try to keep a very strict ratio of in-state/out of state/international so may be in state right now is under enrolled
Fantastic! I know it’s a pivot but it’s supposed to be a great program and a guaranteed entry into Georgia Tech. Will they accept?
Ok thx! I’m international who also chose interested in this program. That’s means the study abroad program needs to fill the gap. What are my chances get into this program?
No one can guess. Getting off the waitlist is an extremely slim chance. Most schools are need aware for the wait list. Are you full pay? That increases your chances. Where have you deposited?
Ok thx,I’m committed to UCSB
I don’t apply for financial aid so yes
Amazing!
Do you predict that oos GT waitlist results will come later?
Also, if I selected no to the study abroad program or summer start does that decrease my chances?
The email said “Based on the number of students who have committed to attending Georgia Tech, we are at capacity for the first year enrollment in Atlanta. However, you have the opportunity to join Georgia Tech as part of the First Year Semester Abroad program in Metz, France, continuing to our Atlanta campus in Spring 2024.”
The FYSA program looks really great. Small classes, opportunities to travel and a great international educational experience.
The one who wants to do Mechanical Engineering will be accepting. He was previously planning to go to Purdue. His brother plans to decline. He is going to University of South Carolina for International Business and was accepted into a cohort program where he will be spending a semester each in Germany, Singapore and Brazil that he is really excited about [ [International Business Education Alliance]
I dont think selecting no to the study abroad program should affect your chances. One of my sons said yes to the study abroad program and the other said no and both got accepted.
We are of course just guessing but from what I had read before, the school is essentially looking out to round out the class profile that they like to have so probably depends on how it looked after the May 1st deadline. Eg: if they think they have enough instate students for the Class of 2027, candidates who are out of state may have a higher chance of getting off the wait list.
Hi! That means the Atlanta campus is full and GT probably offers small number of wl?
Does anybody know if OOS CS applicants still have a chance?
